No need for loctite what you really should use is a Teflon pipe dope.

Install a battery warmer while you're at it....

Actually....I am getting ready to do this as well. I didn't get around to it last winter as intended....so I am going to do it now.

I plan to use a sealing product also (whether actually needed or not).
