What you haveworks. You couyld consider bolting a piece of flat bar, bar stock, or chunk of lead to the bottom side of your draw bar, as long as it's heaver than the hitch ball, it'll act like a keel.

I guess I could have.. that's a good idea except I don't have scrap pieces of bar stock laying around....:)

Nope. My bx has the swinging draw bar. (see my pic)
Gotcha. Technically, the drawbar on my tractor is what's referred to as a swinging drawbar. I remove a pin and "swing" the drawbar to another position left or right of center and then replace the pin to hold it in the offset position.

It's used on some pull-type equipment where it's advantageous to shift the hitch point one way or the other.

Your drawbar does indeed rotate in the draft arms and you could offset the hitch point by selecting one of the many holes. If tractor specifications call out a swinging drawbar, you'd get my style, not yours.

Nonetheless, you need something on yours to hold the ball in a vertical axis. If you were pulling a stone boat with a clevis then it wouldn't really matter if the drawbar rotates.

I wanted to use a drawbar with a mid-mounted 2" ball to move trailers around at my place. But I ran into the same problem with the drawbar rotating until the ball was at the bottom - not too useful in that position. I welded some 1/4" angle iron to the drawbar , you could use 1/4" plate steel if you have it. It fits under the locking lugs on my quick attach and it does not rotate.

I made a T-bar that bolts onto the drawbar and uses a receiver tube on the bottom and the top link on the other end to stop rotation. I can use any standard class IV hitch with it. I use a combo pintle-and-ball hitch with mine. Easy to make.

Sorry no photos handy.
