Easy fuel filter change method

I use a line/hose clamp that I picked up from NAPA for about $6.00 for a set of two. I needed it when I had to replace the fuel return line from my fuel filter to fuel tank on my L3200.
Fuel was just pouring all over the ground when the nipple broke at the tank. I had to clamp the fuel line going into the filter in order to stop the fuel from pouring out while I placed a new nipple in the fuel tank and the new hose on the filter and tank.

L3700SU, L3800, L3400, L3200 Kubotas do not have a fuel shutoff. Some may but it is rare.

Here is an easy way to change the diesel fuel filter:

1. Locate the fuel line from the tank and remove it.
2. Put a 5/16" shoulder bolt in the opening of the fuel line to stop the leak.
3. Change your fuel filter using new o-rings (bought separately).
4. Fill the fuel filter with diesel.
5. Put the filter back on and back it off one full turn.
6. Start the engine, let some fuel flow over the filter housing.
7. Tighten the filter.

Let it run. If you did it right, there is no need to bleed the injectors. It will take off purring like it should.

Kubota left off a shutoff valve but this method works great and your tractor will thank you for it.

Why not add shutoffs before and after the filter?

That style of filter head has an automatic fuel shut off valve built into it. When you unscrew the cup and lower the filter approx. 1/4", the valve shuts off the fuel for you. When you reinstall the filter and cup, the fuel shut-off is turned back on.
There is no need to remove and plug the hose or even to clamp the hose shut.
