I went out to bale hay last week and the PTO quit with an E-95 error on the dash (which is loss of PTO function). I checked the PTO switch and seat safety switch - both were fine. With some effort, I located the PTO solenoid, unhitched the wiring harness, and determined that I have 12+ volts at the solenoid. It appears the PTO solenoid is bad. Before I drop $400 on a new solenoid, am I missing anything? Thank you in advance for any input.

I would not call that conclusive and $400 is a pretty expensive test.
  1. Measure solenoid coil resistance. WSM should have allowable range.
  2. If resistance checks jumper battery + and - straight to the solenoid and see if it operates.
If the solenoid resistance is out of range or it won't operate on a direct battery connection I would vote to convict.

If it operates on direct battery connection either the 12V side of the harness connection is bad or the ground connection is bad.

Thanks for the reply. I will check both. Do I need to drain hydraulic fluid to pull the solenoid and test it?
