Considering getting a grapple, and know I will need to install a third function kit and SSQA adapter to my LA463 loader on a 2007 L2800. Currently has pin on factory 5’ bucket.

Question is this: if I install a SSQA adapter, I am assuming that is not compatible with a pin on bucket? So unless I buy a new bucket that is SSQA compatible I will have to unpin the adapter and reinstall the old bucket with the pins?

Removing pins is not a big deal to me—when I bought this tractor 5 years and 200 hours ago I replaced the old pins. Old ones hadn’t seen grease in a long time so just replaced them and have kept them greased every 10-15 hours as recommended. Old ones were a bitch to get out but after cleaning the sleeves thoroughly the new ones slid in without any resistance.

I’d rather not buy a new bucket as well (if possible). I would probably use the grapple more than the bucket but would certainly like the ability to change out quickly.

Thoughts?

You can attach a SSQA plate to your bucket. You would probably cut off current connections and weld the plate to the bucket.

I would just buy an SSQA plate and weld it to the back of the pin-on bucket...

Of course this would take a little fab work but nothing too fancy. (cutting off the pin mounts)
I'm sure any welding shop can hook you up If it's something your not comfortable doing yourself.

Once you go SSQA , you'll never go back to 4 pins. While swapping may be 'easy' now, come back 5 years form now and tell us how 'easy' it ISN'T !! Lots of options for an SSQA bucket.

Theres companies selling kits .. it will require cutting brackets off old one and welding plate to bucket

Doing the same thing on the same tractor. Any recommendations on 3rd function kit source? I have already done the adaptor plate for SSQA and have converted my bucket. Want to add a grapple next and am considering EA grapple.

Lotsa info here at the forum on 3rd function plumbing kits - do a search. I just added the same to my tractor last year. One thing that I feel to be critical at the start of this process is to understand what you really want and what is out there. The Summit Kits are nice but they are electrically activated by solenoids so they are "all or none" without the "feathering" you are used to with a conventional hydraulic valve. Depending on your intended uses this may or may not be an important factor. I opted to install a true hydraulic valve so I could "feather" out front to precisely control how tight the grapple closes or what angle my front blade was angled at. Once I made this decision, I went ahead and used a dual control valve that gave me the added bonus of being able to add a rear hydraulic toplink to aid the use of a rear blade. All told, my solution came in at less cost than a Summit kit with greater utility and more precision. It's a deep, dark rabbit hole when you really start looking into adding front and/or rear hydraulics to your tractor but it is a fun journey.
