I have an L2050 for a couple of years and don't need it. Tried to sell it last Fall with little interest on CL.

My wife was with me when I met a guy who sells aftermarket seats locally. It was a nice seat with arm rest and built in seat belt, for my skid steer in progress. When I got in the truck she said I should install that seat on THAT tractor (L2050), because the one on it was ugly!

So after contemplating her comment, found the black trapezoid seat discussed in another thread and installed it.

Yesterday, Sat.9-2, I took some pictures after I mowed a small patch with the contour mower attached. Loaded them on CL at 11:30 AM. Went to move about 6 cu yards of dirt with the L4240. When I took a break at about 4PM I checked my phone which I left in the truck.

Had 3 calls on the tractor. Called the first number and the guy wanted to come and look. He lived about 5 miles away. 5PM was fine for him. I came home and got a bite to eat and looked at my email. Four emails about the tractor. One guy was a business owner who's shop in 3 1/2 miles away.

The guy shows up a 4:50. Has a younger guy with him who inspects the tractor and approves. He visits for a bit, pays for it, and the younger drives off with it.

So I have to confirm, a good seat sells a tractor!!:D

85Hokie, sold it for $4750 with the mower. I've had it too long to not be in use and didn't want it parked for another winter.

It was a fair deal for the buyer and me, I think. Tractor is excellent mechanically, a little rough on being pretty! The mower is in excellent condition also. I replaced one spindle and bearings and sharpened the blades when I got it. It didn't have the shields on the belts, and I never acquired any to put on it.

I had a goal to sell some "inventory" this summer when I bought the L4240 last winter.

A few months ago I sold the B8200, but I still have 4 Kubotas!

It's apparent it could have been sold for more money, but I asked myself what would I take for it and be happy for it to not set.

'Cat - your wife is apt to remind you about her seat suggestion for a while!

Nice tractor, and I think you did fine on price. Fair to both you guys.

I sold my Harley last spring on CL, a 2005 FXDI I bought new. First email in 2 or 3 hours by its buyer. Could I have done better? Probably, but like you it was just sitting.... He paid my asking price, since he recognized a good deal when he saw one.

That was an example of Mufflers selling a motorcycle. EFI, that thing sounded SO GOOD (and loud) when it fired up!

Should've seen the look on his and his Dad's faces when she fired....SOLD!! SOLD!! SOLD!!

Nice kid. He got a buy, and I had a fist-full of Benjamins!!

RCW, you mention, "'Cat - your wife is apt to remind you about her seat suggestion for a while!"

When I got the L4240 last winter she got a brand new Grasshopper with a Grammer seat. I was going to get a Grammer seat for the Grasshopper she had, but when I saw the price of the seats and what was required to adapt them to existing mower, we decided to trade it all in for a new one.

She had/has some back pain and she does ALL the mowing. I'm the maintenance man! So I had to make things more comfortable. She didn't want the new seat or the new mower, but I insisted!!

I'll hear no rumblings!:D:D

Gotcha - good thing!

Sorry to hear of her back problems - I contend with that a lot myself. Not fun...

Wouldn't wish it on anyone.....

My wife has had foot, knee, and cervical disc surgeries over last 10 years, and she's a slender 5' 4". I'm a "not-so-slender" 6' 4". Tough getting older....

I keep telling her it's those 3 or 4 miles she runs everyday!

Best wishes!

For me, it does. Even the little details can be the takeaway — as for your case, it may be the seat — when faced with a lot of options with the same specs and performance; although I do always consider function over form.

Anyway, congrats on the deal; you and your wife did a good job! :)
