I'm not sure why but for as long as I can remember I've always liked to get vanity plates for my vehicles. I saved a few but most are long gone :(
What do yours look like?

I have license plates on two vehicles and five trailers that are all variants of MCMXI. I might have to deviate from that when I finally title and register the LMTV. I was thinking MT LMTV or M1078, but might simply keep going with MCMXI 8 or something. We're only allowed seven letters up here, and less depending on the plate background.

I used to have an Audi Allroad in Hawaii, well two, one for me and one for the wife. The license plate on mine was PIR8 but very few got it.

I guess mine might be considered a vanity plate.
A (FL) Vietnam service medal plate?

I once saw in a parking lot a small red BMW convertible which said “HOT4MEN”

I wanted to hang around to see what she looked like.

My buddy pointed out “This is California! What makes you think it’s a woman?”

I have had two vanity plates.
The BLK-66 was on my black over black 1966 Satellite convertible and my
1969 Dodge Superbee clone had CLONE-B . The reason I went with CLONE-B on my Dodge was because "Yes, its a clone because I am too poor to own the real deal". ! lol. I had moved to Wi in 2002 from Missouri hence the non vanity plates when I took the picture of the Dodge.

30 years ago I got one for my wife. It is her given (first) name. Spelled perfectly. Six letters.

Not sure if that is a vanity plate though. I just got it because it was available and thought it would be fun for her having her name on the plate. Having a Japanese name probably helped too.

Now that I think of it, perhaps I should see if HENRO is available for my old van...LOL...no interest though...Hummmm, I don't think I have any interest...but now that you brought it up...LOL

Here are two of my plates. An elderly woman asked me what MCMXI meant the other day while I was at the post office. Being in Montana most don't have a problem with the explanation, and if they would have, they most likely wouldn't know what a 1911 was anyway.

$25 here for a standard plate. Not sure on the vanity plates. It's the personal property tax on all registered vehicles that gets you.

My daily drivers plate is VE9AA (which is not really a vanity plate per se, but an specially authorized Amateur Radio license callsign letter plate)..ie: I pay a mere $12.00 to transfer a real license plate # to this plate,(+ I had to make a special application with proof of license whereas a vanity plate, is something like $200 +/- nowadays and no proof of anything needed.

My plate on my Classic Mini says "MINIAC" (ie: Maniac)

The plate on the 61 Land Rover (in my avatar) said "MAD4MUD" (reads as "MAD for Mud"), but my intention was "MADE for MUD" ...NB only allows 7 letters. The ol' Beast is now gone but I kept the plate.

My first vanity plate was my first name with the company initials HMH…on a brand new Chevy Tahoe (1999) they gave me to drive. One of my buddies sees it and says…awe, that is so cute…the company bought you a plate…as he laughs. I say to him…well yeah…but they gave me the truck for free! He quit laughing at that point. I eventually owned that company and have had many nice trucks. I sold that company, kept a 2020 Tahoe and still have the truck and plate…23 years later.
