Dissing the new Tier 4 tractors

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and diverse opinions are helpful here. However I think that it is NOT helpful if someone with a new Tier 4 tractor writes in for assistance to hear from a bunch of folks that it is a PITA, that the new stuff sucks, that the EPA and the gubmint suck, and that they themselves are vastly superior, lucky etc because they have one of the older tractors. It can make the new owner feel bad, (for the love of mike let them enjoy their new tractor) and may make people reluctant to write in for help. I am kind of sick of hearing it myself.

On the other hand the place for such comments where it IS helpful, is the section where someone is trying to decide what to buy, and your experiences and comments can be helpful.

Your right, though we have these now and more will follow and thats not going to change. If someone has one and has issues with it then offer a response, if you aint got one then the best thing is to just keep you opinions to your self.

There are 3 in my general area and I have not heard anyone complain about the regen on them. The only problem I have with mine is sometimes when it goes into regen I am about to put it away. I could stop it but instead take a ride for a mile down the road and by the time I get back it is done. Did that one day and when I turned around it started pouring down rain needless to say I was soaked but hey it washed the tractor

I'm with sheepfarmer, I think there has only been two people post about having real problems with regens on the L3901.

I know that there is one model that was having a lot of problems and I think the forums was a lot of help to the people that came here for information and anyone that was looking to get that model.

Sheepfarmer you've been great helping people to understand these Tier 4 tractor, great write ups on how to and it's much appreciated. I've owned both and have no problem with the tier 4, seems to work fine with minor inconvenience. The change has been made and there's no going back so deal with it. It really would be nice if the dealers would take a little more time to make sure the buyers understand how this works before they sell the tractor, would take all of 2 minutes to explain.

I'll start out by saying I have had zero problems with my L3560 regen's, and I do not anticipate I will. The first regen causes a little apprehension, but I just kept working and it turned into a non-event (as every regen since has been as well). So I mostly agree, and would not recommend people avoid a machine that they need because of the Tier 4 stuff. There are two exceptions though:

1. There is only one Tier 4 model that I would not recommend. I would avoid the B3350 like the plague. There have just been to many problems, and too many claims of having the problems fixed. The fixes are getting more complicated, and there has not been enough time to know if it is really fixed. If you are in a warm climate, then you may never have a problem, and they seem to be the ones saying the machine is great. But cold climate dwellers have had a lot of issues. Some dealers won't even sell them. Any other models seems to be operator error (potentially lack of information), or a one off problem that gets fixed under warranty.

2. There are those that like to work on there own equipment, and buying a simpler tractor without an ECU is a big plus. I believe the Tier 4 means you are going to have to have an ECU. So as long as you do not need the HP, then stepping down to a simpler non-Tier 4 system may be for you. I do not think it is necessarily a DPF issue, but more of an issue with the complication of the ECU and not being able to fix things yourself without a steep learning curve for some.

i try to stay towards the positive side in everything we do here...

can ad to this is that my dealer doesnt have 33's on any of their 4 lots & they dont even attempt to sell them....

so its not just a OTT discussion.... when a well known dealer wont sell it & recommends you purchase something different? that says enough.
