Looking for heavy duty discs for food plot work compatible with MX5200 - MX5800. Have a 4 acre field and 1 acre plot that are "rough" and some rocks but have been planted successfully for years. Looked at King Kutter also LandPride #2572. The LP seems much better quality, 16 discs 22" weighs 1050lbs but at $3000 is double the price. These discs will likely only
Be used to til my 6-7 acres each Spring - so Not a lot of work but also the fields aren't typical smooth "farm fields". Although the tractor might handle larger/heavier/wider discs sets (8 feet) I'm staying away from anything over 6 feet for ease use, turning, narrow logging roads etc..
Any "food plot" workers, hobby farmers, use LP products? Or other quality HD discs?

We use Tufline http://monroetufline.com/agriculture/ in our food plots. We have about 2000 ac we manage for deer and about 3/4 of it are old strip mines (talk about rocks). The blades wear out after 3-4 years discing for spring and fall but for the abuse we put them through there great.

A neighbor lets us borrow his LP NT drill for our better plots. Good equipment for as much as I can tell.

Thanks Tyler and I have looked at the Tufline disc (on line)....appear to be a solid quality product but I believe much more expensive (+$1000) than LandPride. I was looking for something similar incost or even lower....but still quality. It might Not exist and I'll just end up getting the LP.

Look on Craigslist for a used one I just picked up another 6' international disc in great shape it heavy duty and has blade cleaners to keep it from plugging up in wet soil. For no more than your going to be using it there's no problem buying used. I'd rather buy a heavy duty used one than a new light King Ketter or Land Pride.

I haven't seen a land pride that looked that heavy to me , they may make one I just haven't seen one. Estate sales are another good place to find good deals on implements. Good luck .

I have a heavy duty 6-foot Countyline disk I bought at Tractor Supply. I believe it is actually made by Tarter. So you may check Tarter, J Bar, or Modern Ag.

Rodger, I think the Countyline is similar to King Cutter and specs indicate it is too light for my needs - weighs 25% less than similar sized Land Pride and afraid it may not hold up on my property - fields are rough and some rocks. The Tufline appears to be slightly better than LP but weight for their 6'4" wide model only 200lbs more than LP 6' model - likely only a 125 lbs more if both were same width.
Appreciate all the insight and ideas from everyone - certainly many have more experience and knowledge than I do. Thinking "used" is the only way to get HD quality at a lower price. But 6' used discs are less common than the larger ones used by Real Farmers!
