OK, the belly mower on my little BX2200 Kubota has a shaft bolt with a stripped out head, and I need to replace it.

In the image below, it is item 050

The part number is K5371-34550, as highlighted below along with a new lock washer I was planning to get at the same time

Doing a quick search for parts on this 20-year-old tractor, I found on 3 different websites that the part has long since been discontinued, like on Messick's page below

https://www.messicks.com/part/k5371-34550/shaft-w-out-flan

The new part that replaced it is K5371-34552 is a shaft with a flange

https://www.messicks.com/part/k5371-34552/shaft-side-bla

It's about $25 for this part, and I'm sure I'll have to pay another $20 for FedEx and wait 3 or 4 days for it to get here, so I'd like to know if there is a way to make sure it's going to work before buying this new part.

Does Supersession always mean that the new part will work?

It's my experience that if PN's states it supersedes a previous number it works without issue.

I would order the part after confirming with your dealer of choice.

Good luck!

hmm.. do you mean the blade bolt (#100) is busted off or internal threads 'stripped' ? Either way it could be reapaired though for $30 for new, not worth the time, unless free.
I'd order 2 of them.. take old one to dealer, have him, xref...order. If NOT good, his fault,he eats the $$ !

+1. Being in Texas I'd get it locally at a dealer. You have the part number,

Order the part from your local dealer. Ask them to order it with their regular orders, and you should not have to pay any shipping. You may have to wait a couple of days for him to order, but you can ask and find out if that wait suits you.

#100? No dingbat. Can you not see that I highlighted #50?

Dealer doesn't know either. Ordering parts through there is twice as much as online.

I just thought someone here might know. Never mind.

JP2code, there’s no reason to get “uppity” or insulting. I think you maybe didn’t understand his question. He isn’t suggesting you buy a bolt. He was just confirming the bolt 100 broke off in 50 rendering 50 useless and offering a possible way to save 50 and return it to service.

But to answer your question ...YES.. superseding parts directly replace obsolete parts exactly as indicated.

Oh. Okay. Sorry Jay.

How do I describe 50?

Bolt 100 threads into it, but it has a surface like that of a nut that the special washer snaps into so that it doesn't spin. The nut portion of 50 is rounded off by the wrench-like shape of the special washer, so the blades can't lock down.

Third time... Superseded parts always fit in place of older parts. ;)

I hope it’s obvious that you will need to also replace that bolt 100 since the previous one is damaged and it’s remains are stuck in the old 50.

Great. Superceded parts will fit.

No, bolt 100 comes right out. There was nothing wrong with the threads inside part 50. As long as the thread pitch hasn't changed, the bolt should be fine.

Thanks everyone

Time to fire up the welder and grinder.

I guess I misunderstood what you posted. I thought the threads were stripped.
