I'm temporarily removing fel from B1750HST and don't know how to treat open ports on tractor and fel. I don't anticipate using implements while loader is off but I will be driving tractor from shed to shed. I don't want to oil the ceiling when tractor is started but unsure tape is adequate to prevent oil leaks. Thanks for tips to spare mistakes.

At a minimum you have to keep the loader supply jumpered. What is the model number of your loader?

Brush Hog 1840QT loader. I'm a slow learner so for benefit of me and anyone else sharing the handicap, does "jumpered" mean connecting two lines from pump together so fluid flows freely from one to the other? What other advice can you offer specific to the 1840QT and how might if differ for a loader built by Kubota?
Thank you for the advice.

The loader plumbing is pump to loader vslve and back to tractor. If the loader valve is removed with the loader you have to " jumper" the pump suppy line back to the tractor. I will have to check the parts manual to see exactly how the B1750 plumbing is routed.

You are in luck - Kubota was still doing it right with the B1750.

There is an outlet block on the right side of the engine that supplies oil to the loader. One hose goes from that block to the inlet on the loader valve and a second hose connects the outlet on the loader valve back to the block.

Disconnect the two hoses at the block, put plugs in the ports, and move the selector handle on the block to point to the rear of the tractor.

When you reconnect the loader move the selector handle to point straight out away from the engine.

Its important to leep the selectot handle in the correct position at all times. You will find a description and pictures of the outlet block in the owners manual

If you’re going to be installing plugs be sure you know what the thread in the hole is because there are several similar threads but they are not identical.

If you take a picture of the block before you remove anything someone may be able to identify the thread in the port.

No need to guess.

According to the WSM its PS 3/8. Thats the JIS designation for what amounts to internal BSPP. The factory seemingly used an externsl PF (BSPP) plug with sealing washer.

Technically its an internal parallel thread designed to mate with an external JIS PT taper thread - PT is functionally equivalent to BSPT.

All of those designations (but not the thread forms) are now obsolete and have been replaced with newer designations.

Practically speaking take your pick - BSPP or BSPT plug - either will work. Personally I hate taper pipe threads and would go with a BSPP plug and a sealing washer.

Thanks Hokie. Here's where I am at on it. I only had tapered threads to plug ports in outlet block and like you I don't like them for hydraulics so I disconnected hose flares at loader instead. To protect fittings and contamination I coupled hoses end to end with a flare x flare fitting I had on hand and flipped block handle facing rear. Not wanting to start tractor until I know what I did is ok,I used rear wheel to roll tractor free of loader for access to sub-frame which is being removed in preparation for tractor split. I need to drive tractor to a different building before splitting it. Am I good to go driving tractor and using 3 point with handle pointing rearward and hoses coupled as described above?
Once tractor is in the right building the saga will continue in a different thread
I do appreciate yall's help. This is my first Orange tractor so only time will tell if I come over from the Blue and Green.:giggle:

You should be fine. You have pump connected with two parallel circuits - straight through the block and around the selector via the hoses. The external loop is actually plugged at the pump port by the repositioned selector valve.

Thanks , that's what I was hoping.
