Diesel in engine oil

Hi
My first post!

I have an L345DT with the V1501-D engine and have what seems to be diesel in the engine oil. The tractor has stood for a long time and only started occasionally. When it was started it spat oil out of the breather so we checked and found the sump full roght up.

We suspect a seal in the pump, but that looks like a difficult job. Anyone have any advice please...

Regards

Welcome aboard!

I had a similar problem with a full crank case spitting oil out the breather and dip stick port's.

Turned out to be a bad seal on the hydraulic pump!

If your CERTAIN it's diesel fuel in the oil, you have a bad fuel injector (stuck open)....is the tractor running rough?

Check out my picture link in my signature - it's sorta a detailed view of the rebuild I did for just a bad seal in the hydraulic pump. :)

I only got it running properly today and am going to keep an eye on all levels. It did smell like diesel, but I hope it is hydraulic oil...

Dear Eddie - I can't speak about your diesel in the oil problem - but I do agree that these guys on the OTT are The Best. I've learned a ton about Kubotas and tractors in general since I started visiting OTT on a regular basis. My hat is off to everyone who contributes to this treasure of information.

I couldn't agree more! There's a wealth of knowlege here.

SDV (Service Department Vic) once posted that I had an answer that was right on the mark.....I felt like I just got promoted to chief parts washer from floor sweeper! :D
Stick around and you're going to have something to add that benefits someone!;)

I had same problem and it was "O" rings on injector pump.Rubber gets hard and does not seal.Diesel can leak in either direction to inside or outside or both. About a 3hour job on my Kx61 removed intake manifold to access rear screws on injector pump. Three "O" ring on each unit. Not a hard job.

Thanks for the info, sounds like that might be my problem.

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove and strip down the pump? It seems like I have to get to the timing gear through the front of the engine.

BTW, how do you find the KX61? I have a KX41-3 as well as the L345DT tractor :)

The info I have is the pump should be good for life of engine and is better left alone as the shims under pump determine timing. KX 61 seems to be a very good machine - need more seat time .

Well, I checked everything over and still couldn't find the fault. I took the injectors and pump to a diesel specialist and the outcome was a bill for 1000€! It needed the injectors rebuilding and new pistons and valves in the pump.
