I have to keep my B7100 outside until I get the shop built.

This morning I went out to see how easily it would start with the temp at 8f degrees, and discovered the key lock was frozen.

For those that store their tractors outside, what if anything are you using to cover the key lock to keep the rain out?

I used have a John Deere 450 dozer that would do that in the winter time when logging with it. During the day time in the woods snow would fall down on the dash then at night it would freeze. I solved it by taking a piece of inner tube and hitching it above the key and letting it drape down over the key switch making a flap. This kept the moisture out and it never bothered again. It was also simple solution.

Call the dealer and see if they have/can order a key cover for an M4500. Mine has a rubber/plastic cover that can be snapped closed with the key out. Suppose it would fit your little Kubota as well.

I bought a heavy canvas tarp and keep my BX23 covered with the tarp, which is held in place with bungees. Keeps the rain and sun off the switches, dash and seat.

yep, there is a rubber boot cover that fits over the stock ig switch, i purchased two new switch assemblies complete with rubber boot, it afixes to a ring under the switch face so you would need to removethe switch to intall the ring , the the the boot hangs on it, keeps mother nature out of the electrics nicely.
i dont have the pic to hand to upload now, have a look back through my B7100 project and you'll see it on one of the pics.

i paid only a few pounds each for the complete switch assembly on ebay, you should be able to do the same, i may still have a spare, i'll rummage through the parts room.

Twice today I had to take a torch to the l3800 Key in order to get it to go into the key hole. It just will not go in other wise. Warming the key up did the trick both times. It tried spraying oil into the key hole too, but that did nothing. It just needs a warm key.

I have learned to always have a torch handy in my truck this time of year.
