Hi guys,I was out digging a hole for a new septic system today when a trapped rock tore a pipe fitting off one of the stabilizer legs:mad:
I had to do a repair on it and thought some may be interested on how it was done ?
pic 1..broken parts
pic 2..grinding off weld, holes plugged for obvious reasons.
pic 3..old nipple off.
pic 4..pipe fitting in vice with a piece of angle plate with a hole over the broken thread to weld onto it through the hole
pic 5, broken thread screwed out from hose fitting.:D
will have to do another post to show finished job

Fortunately the broken end was furthest from the end seals so the rod was pulled to the other end of the cyl so the heat did not cook its seals, welding in four runs ,a little cooling air between made sure the heat did not travel .

Pic 6,,all welded

Pic 7 fitted and back in action ,no time and no orange paint but at least it got a quick splash of primer:D

I can see that I need more practice welding. Good job.
