JimPal, is it a manual drive, ie, 3 speed with high and low(not a hydrostat)? If so, it is probably similar to my B7100. The hydraulic screen on my B7100 is behind the right foot rest in the suction line to the hydraulic pump. There are two lines from the front pump that go above the foot rest on the right side. Follow the bottom one back to where it goes into the gear box of the chassis. If you clean the screen, you will be draining all of the hydraulic oil. This is a picture of my son's B6100 with a pointer to the screen.
If you are having trouble with the 4WD, especially on one front wheel, I wouldn't have expected it to be a problem in the hydraulic gear box. You have 3 oil reservoirs on the front axle. The differential in the middle and the two outer gear boxes for the steering u-joints. I would recommend you check the level in those three. If they have never been serviced, drain them and refill with hydraulic fluid. While you are at it, check the steering box at the bottom of the steering wheel shaft. Fill it also.
As far as your PTO shaft seal, I have never changed one, but I would expect you could pick it out with a scratch awl and then replace it. When replacing a seal, make sure there are no burrs on the PTO shaft that will cut the seal lip. I usually put an old micro-fish film around the shaft, oil it and slide the seal over it.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
