We laugh at those kind of signs, and that's fine, but to actually post one on your property is a very stupid thing to do.

I had a friend (an attorney) who told me years ago to not put a "Beware of Dog" sign in the yard. Said if a dog ever bit some one and they proceeded with legal action that sign indicates you know the dog will bite and could lead to negative outcome.

Back in the days of real men when women couldn't vote, if there was a warning sign and someone got shot the court would prosecute the guy who got shot twice as hard given he had ample warning and ignored it.

When I had my indoor range business one of my neighbors had an adjoining salvage yard with a chain link fence completely enclosing the area with the salvage vehicles. One night, well after closing time, a parts thief jumped the fence and was promptly bit by the resident junk yard dog.

He took my neighbor to court for medical bills and pain and suffering , and of course had to admit to the reason he jumped the fence.

I wish I would have followed the case and found out the out come. In any sane world it would have been dismissed with the bad guy paying any lawyer fees, court costs and punitive damages to the salvage yard owner.

A local underground coal mine, had a substation with chain link fence and barbed wire at the top and all kinds of danger high voltage ( 12 480 volt feeding underground ) signs. The copper thieves thought since the mine was idle they could make a good haul, cut through the fence ,, AND ,, tried to cut through the feed line with a battery saws all. They hit the first phase and since everything was insulated no worries, how ever since the mine was still pumping water and vent fans running, the feed line they chose was energized and when the saw blade came in contact with the next phase,, well ,, things just went sideways. The electrician on midnight went out to see what the problem was, and called the state police, and since there were bit of clothing and an very destroyed De Walt saws all, he knew what happened. The state police said they already had one man in custody though he was in the ER. It seems his buddies picked him up and dropped him off at a local truck stop and went back to W. Va. And true to a word he tried to sue the coal company , because they thought since the mine was idle, the cable was dead.

Was told the same thing. Better for them to find out the hard way with no warning!

I got called out one early morning to deliver a pump to a sewer lift station. When I was rolling up, the coroner was just leaving. Lots of police around as well for a sewer lift station going down 🤔🤔🤔

Thats when I found out someone had hopped the fence to steel copper. Dude cut the 480vlt cable feeding on of the sewer pumps with a pair of bolt cutters.

Worked with a guy who had his car stolen. Cops called him a few weeks later to say they recovered it. They found a dead guy near the car. He and a bud were cutting cables down along the RR track somewhere around Reading PA. He cut the wrong cable. His bud split. Dead guy's mom said the kid legally bought the car and she wanted it so she could sell it to pay for her son's funeral. That didn't work out for her.
