I inherited my Dad’s tractor and have a question about the 3 point hitch. On one side there is a cylinder that is hydraulic and on the other side it is fixed and will not go up or down. I attached pictures I hope will help explain what I am talking about. What type cylinder needs to be there? It has to be able to let the arm go up and dow, right? Any help would be appreciate.

Hi,

the way I look at it you have four cylinders on this three point hitch.

The two blue ones (right one has dirt cover missing, I think) move the lower links up and down. The yellow one is for the upper link. And the magenta one (I think this is the one you are moving) enables you to tilt the implement sideways.

So I think you have to find the lever that controls the blue cylinders.

Kind regards,
Hugo

I’m not familiar with an L4330.

I’m hoping that’s the tractor we’re talking about? You didn’t specify.

It looks like your Dad added what they call “top and tilt” hydraulics to the tractor.

Typically that involves an hydraulic “top” cylinder, and one “tilt” cylinder to the lift linkage. They’re identified as yellow and red/magenta arrows in @Hugo Habicht ‘s post above, respectively.

You would NOT typically see hydraulic cylinders on both sides of the lift linkage for the “tilt” function.

Looks complete in my estimation. You don’t need any other parts.

Your top link cylinder is connected incorrectly in your photo. There are two sets of rear remotes and you need to connect both hoses from the top cylinder to the same pair of outputs. The same goes for the tilt cylinder. If you look at the photo below, notice that hoses marked 1A and 1B go to the same hydraulic cylinder, with the hoses marked 2A and 2B going to the other hydraulic cylinder.

I'm not sure why, but your tilt cylinder hoses aren't connected and seem to be disappearing under the operator's platform.

Is the tractor an L40 or L60 of some form?
