Has anyone ever had a failure with the oil pump on a d950 engine? I'm in the middle of rebuilding my engine due to a connecting rod bearing failure. My low oil pressure light did not come on when when you turned the key to the on position with the engine off so i figured there was probably a bad sensor or bulb. I never had time to check to see if that was the case as the engine was knocking and i didn't want to run it to much. (the tractor was given to me in this condition.)
I was just about to put the pump on and I got to wondering if it should be replaced. The WMS says nothing about inspecting it, so i'm not sure what to do. Just wondering what the general consensus is on failures seen. Per the hr meter my tractor has 1400 hrs on it. (that's if the hr meter is working which i'm not sure of yet either)
I'm leaning to using it as i'm pretty sure that everything appeared to be getting oil when i tore the engine down. Also if it helps the rod bearing that failed was the one closest to the front of the engine. All others appeared to be in good condition.
