D1703 out of excavator

From 2005 - 2012 I worked at a foundry and they had a small Kubota excavator with a D1703 engine in it. At some time in 2011 the decision was made to scrap the machine and i got the engine out of it including the radiator, hydraulic pump and part of the frame. The engine serial number is 7E1660. I have no idea what model the machine was nor the year of manufacture.
I have a small Ditch Witch 2300 with a Wisconsin VH4D in it that is very temperamental and the D1703 matches perfectly with horsepower and RPM's. The VH4D's clutch plate is 9" in diameter. Looking at the flywheel on the engine it looks like it is smaller than the pressure plate bolt pattern but it is hard to accurately measure the flywheel as the hydraulic pump mounting cover is still on the flywheel housing and it also has the rear engine mounts. Doing a quick ebay search for Kubota D1703 clutches and it appears some tractors (L3300) had a 9.5" clutch plate.
Would anybody be able to help identify the excavator model so I can get a parts book for it so I can cross reference some part numbers?

You don't really need to know what it came out of, the motor is the same regardless of use and the flywheel and bellhousing will mount to it.
There is a good chance that many different flywheels and bellhousings will fit it.
The one issue you would have is the back half of the bellhousing is part of the transmission on quite a few models, so that part would need to be custom made or altered from an existing transmission.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I wanted to ID the excavator was to avoid replacing the flywheel if I did not need to. I will have to spend an hour or so and pull it apart so I can measure it correctly.
The existing Ditch Witch engine has a fabricated and machined clutch housing that I can adapt to suit the D1703. I have the machining and fabricating skills to adapt the engine to the machine.

I should have followed up with, I would tell you what the engine is out of if I could.
I can tell you it was manufactured March of 2007.

EDIT: After a lot of cross referencing it most likely came out of a U-30-5

Thank you very much for the help. I dug the engine out of where I had it stored and pulled the cover off the flywheel and it is nothing like a clutch type flywheel. It has a recess for the hydraulic pump coupling so it looks like I need a flywheel, clutch and a housing/backing plate.
