Lee Ma.
Just want to say hello to everyone, new guy with a 78 l245dt. It's been sitting for they say 5 years and she starts up with no problems. We got home played around with the front end bucket and the seals popped out of the cylinder. I have no experience in tractors or hydraulics. I have a repair shop that has a good reputation and has been around 30 + years, what should it cost to fix the seals ?? A lot more questions to come..
Thanks
Dave

I had to do all four cylinders on my L235 with the BF400 loader last year. Ordered the four rebuild kits and the total cost with shipping from Messicks was $350.00. Never did a rebuild before, but with a little guidance from a friend, I was able to do the job myself. Had I needed to have it done at a shop, I can only imagine what the cost would of been had I chosen to out-source the work, probably at least double.

Others may have different costs and experiences, but in any case, it will cost some bucks. Especially if you can't do it yourself.

My 2¢

Hi, and glad you found us!!

Now, for your question. It kinda depends on a few variables, Which cyl., factory or aftermarket, if packings are available, and then conditions of the cyl like if the rod has any pitting or rust spots, straightness etc. Then the whole labor part of the equation dunno, but I dont think bottom dollar is the way to go here experience and customer Reputation is. Since i dont have a FEL right now I cant say what repair is gonna run ya but, I heard (read) where some of the guys on here have bought repack kits for under $25 and done it themselves. I dont have any real hands on with that but at that price I'd try it once.

Since you have already let all the magic smoke out maybe....

Whatever you decide, Good luck.

Oh and another thing, around here we like lots of Pics and to talk about our beloved orange tractors. So don't be bashful your among friends...

Is it a model 1200 loader? Go to you local dealer or Messick's online and order cylinder rebuild kits, they were about $35-40 each when I needed them.

Thanks for the replies, yes it is a 1200, and I found a guy in Cheshire Ma. He ordered the kits at 45.00 a piece. I'll start my 1st paying job this week with it after he works on them. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
I was talking with him and I asked about fenders, He quoted 450.00 a piece  If anyone is interested in trading a Harris cab for 2 fenders ,or wants to sell let me know. Also asked about a backhoe and he just laughed.
BTW where's the best place to post photo's ??
