cylinder liners in M7950dt

Anybody put new liners in the engine block on an M7950DT? My machine shop is stumped because there is no lip at top or bottom and he doesn't see how liner are retained. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

The liners are simply a press fit in the block. I have never seen one come loose in a kubota

OK , but how do I explain to the machine shop the proper way to do this. The info was not in the WSM, so I am still at a loss.

Any machine shop worth their salt should know how to install these sleeves. Kubota sleeves are "unfinished" They must remove the old ones, Then press in the new ones and bore/ hone them to the proper size. On the bigger engines I clean the empty bores and new sleeves thoroughly then lightly oil the bores and sleeves and press them in. Not really much to it. Some people chill the sleeves in a refrigerator or with CO2. Probably doesn't hurt but unless you are super quick they will be up to equal temp long before you get them pressed in!

Don't clean the bores with a hone or emery cloth! You don't want to make them any bigger. Just clean them with varsol or a similar solvent. Many diesels have sleeves like these, Perkins comes immediately to mind. Perkins run their sleeves a lot looser than Kubota do and they don't come out either. The sleeve, once installed and bored to size, is only 1.5 mm thick. Not much area there to "push" them down.

Yes to properly bore the engine you will need to remove it from the tractor.
