Been going through the manual yes .
Don't see any specific details in the engine section of the MSM on changing out the front crank oil seal.
Some details on pulling the fan pulley and torque specs for the nut.
Shallow socket won't work, the shaft sticks out beyond
the nut 2" . About 8" between radiator and pulley.
Starting to look like its going to be another project.
From watching various videos on replacing front crank seals although not exactly a L3300 what needs to happen is clear. Its just a matter of how far I need to tear it down to get at everything with ease.

Parts arrived yesterday , main seal, collar, o-ring and new socket arrives today.
Loader , brush guard and radiator coming off. Might as well check the valves
while the bonnet is off .
Excited about getting this rig tightened up and thanks for all the help here
getting me started on the right foot.

That cover might be clean because the previous owner power-washed it to find where the leak was coming from.... and Woodsy hopefully got a good deal on it because the seller was too intimidated to fix it.

Good progress today. Pulled the radiator, bit of a struggle there. Got the crankshaft nut off with the deep 46mm socket and impact wrench.
Cleaning everything up as I go.
Good news is doesn't look like anyone has been in there before . No paint missing from the nut before today's extraction.
New thermostat going in, temp gauge doesn't act normal. Temp doesn't rise and fall
like a working thermostat should.
Cleaned the shop before starting . Had to remove the top bolts on roll bar to get it into the shop, that close. Clearance about 1/8" through the garage door .
Always did like a good challenge.

Success. Back up and running. No oil leaking from the crankshaft anymore.
Hate oil leaks.
The old seal was toast, disintegrated removing it.
Got all three new parts in , o-ring, collar and front crank oil seal in no problem.
Took some time to clean out the old crank seal though, like the dental hygienist
cleaning your teeth, old stuff stuck on like glue.
Got a 3 prong pulley puller from autozone , no charge when returned.
Pulley came off easy.
Appreciate all the tips and help here, made the semi-major repair go smooth.
Thank You Orange Tractor Talks and members !

Hey Everyone- I was following your post Woodsy in an attempt to troubleshoot an oil leak of my own. I just purchased a used MX5100 with a moderate oil leak showing up at or around the front axle pivot. Per Kabotafreak, the oil could be the original UDT in the axle bypassing an oring or seal. I intend to replace it with 80w/90 to see if it helps the issue. In my case, he also suggested checking the steering cylinder for leaks too, which I will also do. Basically, I just wanted to see where you noticed the origins of your leak.

Thanks!

The origin of my oil leak was the crankshaft seal which is
behind the lower pulley. When running I could actually see the oil, a fine mist, flinging off the crankshaft pulley and fan belt. Fixed that with a new seal, collar and o-ring.
Also have a small leak where the driveshaft meets the front axle but not bad enough
to have to mess with yet. Old machinery has a way of developing leaks, 26 yrs in the case of this new to me machine.
Up by the front pivot I would check the power steering cylinder seals or hydraulic line connections to the cylinder. Sometimes rust can develop on the underside of the power steering shaft which can wear the seals.

It definitely seems to small to mess with at this point. I did not see any evidence of oil sprayed on the fan belt like you did, so I'd maybe rule out a pulley oil seal. The only concerning thing is that the machine is a relatively young 750 hrs. A technician at the dealership suspects the leak is more internal and the tractor would have to be split in order to repair. Has anyone ever heard of that happening to any of their machines? Much, much cheaper to just add oil at this point.
