Covid's Back

The last few weeks here I've seen or known of more folks with covid then I have in a very long time.
The nursing home my mother inlaw(94) is in is loaded with covid. And other businesses I know of workers are sick with it.
I'm not hibernating but not eating out in restaurants for a while at least.

Niece's family all had it. Then the nephew's family got it. All of them recovered in a week and back to normal. For them, just a nasty cold. More sinus issues than anything with this round for them. They went to the doctor thinking they had a sinus infection, end up the different ones tested positive for COVID.

Covid so odd.
My mother inlaw 94 had it, runny nose, felt tired, another woman I know 37 works out eats grass and beans healthy, was almost hospitalized so was so sick. My sisters doctor in New Hampshire he told her the covid almost got him, the sickest he'd ever been in his life recently. He's like 40 yr old.
I'll get the flu shot in Oct as usual but will pass on the new covid shot.

It is back with a vengeance and running rampant everywhere right now. Unfortunately for me, I work for a School of Medicine which my building is attached to the hospital. I am constantly going between these buildings and my faculty work in the hospital and then come teach in my building.. Seems like I am always sick. I have had covid MULTIPLE times now...

My wife and Ijust got over it. This was a bad strain. Doc gave me Paxlovid and it seemed to go away in 8 days then came back worse then ever for another 2 weeks. Our doctor had 4 new cases Friday and said it's getting bad. What do you expect, right on schedule. Election year covid happens every 4 years.

I'm not sure what region you are in, but Covid is in all of them. And ... this is just for those who are taking Covid tests.

We've had a spike every year around this time, right after vacations and school starting. It'll drop back down in the next few weeks, like it has each year before spiking again in December before falling again in January. People gather, it spreads, people go back to their normal lives and it goes back off the radar. The pattern each year has been quite consistent.

Just use common sense, personal hygiene techniques, and for the majority of us, it will be a non-issue.

There is a certain percentage of the population who has added risk factors that makes them more susceptible to catching it and makes for more difficult recovery.

Lose weight
Cut back your sugar intake as far as possible
Get plenty of exercise and sleep
don’t smoke
Eat a healthy well-balanced diet

And most important, stay away from little kids.

had it 3 times-so far. First time, not much to it. Second time, worst Ive felt in my life-and I've been "dead" once, so that's saying something. (got CO poisoning, pretty much dead at hospital but obviously didn't really). Third time I didn't even know it. Runny nose, barely, but that's it.

Wife's sister is a infectious disease "doctor". More of a scientist than a doctor if you want to know the truth. THey don't really fully understand covid and it's many strains and mutations. That was the biggest "issue" of the 2019-2021 covid era is that nobody knew how to treat it. There are other issues as well of which I can't talk about because the forum doesn't like that kind of talk.

For some people it knocks them flat, for others it's just a mild cold. Natures way of controlling the population I guess. We all can't live forever, that's an unreasonable expectation.

covid never went anywhere. It didn't just go away, and it is not going to anytime soon. IMO, the only reason we ain't been hearin much about it is because the media didn't play it up like they did in 2020/2021.

Yeah it never left but word is the variants out now aren't as deadly as the first version.

Wife and I have escaped catching it but we both had a terrible cold all through March this year. We were already retired when Covid hit so we could and did limit our exposure. Prior to March it had been years since either of us even had a cold.

We got the first two Moderna vaccines and the booster that came out after that. Our doctor says he isn't getting any more Covid vaccines and I don't think we will either. He says it is easily treatable for folks in good health which we are but we are both 72 years old. He was of the opinion it did more harm than good for children.

Wife is an avid flu shot getter. Got hers at Walmart yesterday. Our doctor recommended everyone get a flu shot. I haven't had a flu shot in 40 years. Last time I got one I immediately came down with a bad case of flu. I hear they are made different now and that can't happen but I am a creature of habit. Also I have never caught the flu since I stopped getting the vaccine.
