If you look around youll find other DOCTORS saying the same stuff. Problem is these folks have to worry about retaliation for speaking out against the established line.
My doctors don't. Must be a Kalifornia thing. Again, opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one, most stink.
Let's see here:
1. Governors executive orders are NOT laws.
2. The people issuing these orders are not losing their paychecks
3. Much, if not most, of these Covid-19 "related" deaths are not from the virus
4. Survival rate is nearly 99.5% from the virus
5. People are testing positive for the anti-virus who never had symptoms
6. We have killed our economy over nothing when compared to all the other death rates for which we typically do nothing.
It seems to me that folks who usually trust their government will be the group to get very angry with those of us who don't.
My federal government has given me very little reason to trust it.
Once all the angst, fear, and fighting over Covid-19 stops, we'll focus on the Killer Hornets and we can start again.

Reminds me of the TP and PT scenario where people bought shopping carts of TP and PT and then waited a while and tried to return the stuff. Didn't play out the way they thought it would.

No, but their rights and obligations to issue such orders are determined by state statutes in the US. Google state statutes quarantine and your state to find what they are.

Probably not. But to say that those of us not losing a paycheck are not being affected negatively is not true.

The mortality rate is determined by number dead (easy to count) divided by the number infected. The survival rate of known infected is much less than 99.5%, in Michigan, 100-9% mortality. The problem is as you point out, that there are "a lot" of people who appear to have antibodies to the virus, indicating they have been exposed but not symptomatic. Right now the reliability of the antibody tests is inconsistant, and the sampling of the population at large is inadequate. One sample was recruited from an ad on Facebook, not exactly random or extensive. So the real survival rate is probably between the 99.5 your source? and the 80% reported early on out of China.

I don't know that the death rate is the only criterion to decide if it is "nothing" or not. There are a lot of long term health effects of the survivors that will affect their ability to work. The problem is that there are so many unknowns.
i totally agree that many of the economy disrupting things came from poor management of the situation. If, for example, there were enough hospital supplies for the surge of cases, AND there were N95 masks for all of us, AND we had a population smart enough to wash their hands and observe social distancing voluntarily, we would not need shutdowns.

The supply chain stuff in general makes me spit rocks. The N95 mask situation in particular could have been addressed much earlier. Sigh.

My wife and I have all the masks we will ever need so I'm not at all concerned.

Of course I read it, I read every link posted (so long as my AV program allows it). My comment still stands as I posted it. Whether I ascribe to it verbatim remains my personal opinion and not for alluding to on here.

My wife and I have been and will continue to wear a mask anytime we are away from the farm for the foreseeable future. Has nothing to do with being sick or showing signs of whatever. It's 100% for our own safety and well being.
In the beginning and currently the request was for the general public to not rush out and buy the N95 masks for personal use. There was and is a shortage of them and they are needed for medical personnel. They have to be fitted properly to the individual user to work right. If this is done, they will protect both the wearer and those in the immediate vicinity from droplets down to a certain size.
Other kinds of paper mask and homemade cloth masks if properly worn and used will protect those in the vicinity of the wearer from coughed and breathed droplets, but do little to filter out aerosols lingering in the air from someone else. They will help control involuntary spread, think of it as a courtesy to those you encounter. All of them can be detrimental if not put on, taken off, and washed correctly.

SOP for us. Amy made us a number of very colorful and triple layer cloth masks. We wear them once and then get washed in HOT water in the washing machine and dried in the dryer and put up to be used again.
We wear them everywhere we go and plan on wearing them well into the future. We use hand sanitizer all the time too. In my situation (as you well know), Covid would be a death sentence for me so I do everything I can not to compromise myself.
Still have people I want to pizz off.....

I own one of those high buck 3M masks with the replaceable screw on cartridges, It's very cumbersome to wear and I look like some kind of alien with it on anyway. The cloth ones, for our needs, work well.
When I fill my vehicle up at the gas station, I'm always wearing latex gloves but I did that prior to the Covid anyway. Gasoline pump handles are extremely filthy.

I was appalled when I read about the security guard in Flint that was shot in the back of the head because he confronted a woman that tried to enter the store (Family Dollar) without a mask on. Those perpetrators need to be locked up forever.
Was at TSC yesterday and everyone had a mask on. 2 guys came in, no masks, and were asked politely to leave. No mask, no service. Works fine for me.
To me, it's all about common courtesy and respect for your fellow man.

Instead of a mask, I'm wearing a string of alternating garlic cloves and chicken feet.
I've hear it works quite well. No proof, but then there is no proof about the effectiveness of home made masks either. I've all ready got the garlic.....so no cost there.
