Trump did not ban flights from China. Just foreign nationals who had travelled to China in the previous 14 days. Tens of thousands of Americans flew direct from China to the US in the months following the supposed ban.

Doesn't really matter who or where it came from at this point, it's here and we have to deal with it until there's a vaccine or treatment found for it.

Oh, and before you compare Covid to the flu again, bear in mind that the mortality rate of last year's flu was 0.17%. Thus far the mortality rate of Covid seems to be somewhere around 6%, making Covid 35 times more deadly than the flu.
Then there is this.

80k, from the flu. across all ages... dang! We should have done something....

That number is actually still going up. And will continue to go up.

The normal flu didn't go anywhere, and won't go away either - EVER.

They are just calling any respiratory death a covid death now. A ton of mis-reporting of the numbers is going on.

. Trump had the right idea in banning flights from China. Unfortunately, the back door invasion from Europe was not considered.
Early in the spread I read where Milan,Italy has 100000 folks a year traveling back & forth from Wuhan. We returned to DFW from Sarasota in mid Jan. on board a plane that came from Chicago . Then learned a confirmed case had traveled from China to Chicago that same weekend. In today's world it doesn't take long to " spread it around ".

Read in a pretty highly respected publication (not in some tabloid or fake news rag) that the reason why Italy was hit so hard was that Italy was importing cheap Chinese labor to work on state sponsored projects and those laborers brought the virus (asymptomatic) from China (Wuhan) with them when they infiltrated Italy.

I'd say that Italy had no one to blame for the pandemic but themselves.

Like the 'blowout in NYC. That all came about with basically one person infecting hundreds who then in turn infected thousands. When you pack humanity into a small area like sardines in a can, when it blows up, it's huge. Why prisons and nursing homes are issues. Dense populations = a blow out.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans and other Gulf Coastal cities in Louisiana, Mississippi, & Alabama.
You nailed it. Just look at the cases in the outlying counties from metro Detroit (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb) at the number of confirmed cases. That alone gives you a good perspective of what happens with a concentrated populus.

New Orleans had their annual drunkfest and two weeks later... A blowout. South Florida had their beach blanket party for the spoiled college crowd, 2 weeks later a mini blowout, mini because those kids spread it far and wide.

When our governor mandated a stay at home and don't travel to your summer cottage up north, it was with a good reason. All you had to do was look at a Michigan map and you could plainly see the rates of infection and how it spread... Right up 75 and 23 going north to the upper lower and the UP.

While I don't agree with a lot of her political leanings, I do agree with her Covid mandates 100%. I think she could have used a bit more diplomacy in enacting them but when dealing with idiots, sometimes you have to be blunt.

In Northern Michigan the hospital capacity as well as medical staffing is very sparse because it's very lightly populated. They don't need, nor want the people from downstate bring the virus with them and infecting everyone, they don't have an effective means to deal with it in the first place.

We have very limited cases here as well because of the rural setting and limited population. Any cases around here, the infected got it elsewhere, not locally.

And this is what we are getting
https://youtu.be/jujfN6sRRJc
Those officers are doing their job, and the homeowner is too busy arguing to listen to them. There is no requirement for a warrant to prevent ongoing harm, and the homeowner could have the wife bring the sleeping kids to the door and resolve this issue. If the reporting-witness is making a false report then that is actionable by both the police AND the homeowner.

The homeowners disrespectful language and attitude does not lend credibility to his objections.

On the other hand, a quick radio call to a JP could bring a warrant within minutes (and thats what the officers should do) and the obnoxious homeowner can find himself on the wrong end of the law for his refusal to comply with a peace officer.

It's a tough time for everyone, lot's of frayed nerves which sets people off easy. I do agree it could have been handled better but with no end in sight things will only get worse. For us just a little sunshine and heat would make a difference.

Yep its our job to stand up and push back. Myself and many others in my state are openly defying recent orders from the gov. both in business and personal life.

Lol, you go girl.
I see Trudeau just put his foot down on all 'Assault Styled Rifles' Whatever that is I don't know because any rifle or handgun can be an 'assault weapon' when used with malicious intent. Not withstanding I read in the local rag that he banned the sale of, use or possession of any of them immediately and they are going to institute a 'buy back' program. Wanna bet the program will pay you pennies on the dollar for your now 'illegal' rifle?

Nice. The actions of a few dictate the overall climate of everyone.

Yea Flip it is a shame that the few get away with making the rules for the many but I won't be around long enough to worry about it. It's like a lot of things now if a few don't want it nor understand anything about it they want it gone and all it takes is a weak leader to make it happen and I'm not just talking about weapons. Bottom line is they will never stop crazed people from doing harm to others even if they take away every weapon on earth.
