There's been discussion about the drug developed for Malaria, hydroxychloroquine being used with zinc to help destroy the corona virus. Someone, somewhere must see some positive results in it.

https://www.tevapharm.com/news-and-...ine-sulfate-tablets-to-hospitals-nationwide-/
This is the drug used by the Military in Vietnam my cousin says, he was there in 68/69. Flight crews were later told not to use at it screws up " night vision " . Its supposedly found in Tonic Water . I might become a gin & tonic drinker
Maybe I'm paranoid to the max or just plain nuts but all need to not talk about what you have in stock on an Internet forum & Im guilty earlier too.

Saw this on another forum. There has to be some positive to report somewhere!

"The reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores. People are stocking the shelves all nights and letting old people shop first. Carnival cruise line told Trump we can match those big Navy Hospital ships Comfort and Mercy with some fully staffed cruise ships. GM said hold our cars watch this, we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Restaurants said mmmm, we got kitchens and staff we can feed kids. NBA basketball players said, hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff. Construction companies said here some masks for the medical staff and doctors. You got two Democrat Governors getting told we will make it happen by a Republican President who has fought with them for three and half years. Yeah we are a nation divided. We are a bunch of woosies who cant live with out baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach or a bar.

I think a Japanese admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941, "I think we have awakened a sleeping giant."

What communist China didn't count on was America saying "Hey hold my beer and watch this."

Give us a few more weeks and we will be doing much better!"

Mods please shut this thread down, I believe it's run it's course.
Please do not shut it down but instead go back to info about the virus. Those that want to argue about the president ought to PM each other and leave the rest of us out of the argument.

Re: Is the sky falling?

Like the 'old days' with Rex Humbard and the Cathedral of Tomorrow on Sunday mornings on the tube.:)

Myself, I'm not a big church fan. Without starting a discussion about the pro's and con's of church going, suffice to say, with me, I don't need to pay (pass the plate and donate) for someone to lecture me about morality. I'm doing just fine on my own.

Why I farm. I can be close to god when I'm out there, all alone with his creatures. Why I like to hunt as well. I can go hunting and not kill anything. Just being there is always enough for me. Taking an animal for the freezer is icing on the cake.
Hey SidecarFlip, I like the outdoors for some of the same reasons as you, but I am a big fan of church. I'm one of the Elders at a little Baptist country church that sits in a field. Were using the internet to do an online version and calling around to see how everyone is. The part you'll like is were NOT PASSING THE PLATE, my wife's the treasurer so we just asked them to send her the checks!

I agree. There is no reason for politics to enter into a discussion about this worldwide virus. No one got a practice run at this and it's easy for anyone to be a coulda, woulda, shoulda winner the day after the game.

Just watched an updated press conference and we gained 300+ cases since yesterday afternoon, so we have over 1,000 cases. Plus, sadly we went from 6 deaths to 9 deaths.

Makes me miss the old days where all we had to complain about was the weather.

Spent a few hours with dad (73). I keep praying he makes it through this alright.

Please please please delete yourselves the posts with political overtones. I know and agree there are plenty of political issues that are about to make our lives much worse, and as much as anyone else I would like to rant at the ones I see. But we have bigger fish to fry.

If we don't implement self quarantines ourselves or via state or local government orders, all of us are likely to be very sorry.

I am on my high horse because of the numbers of posts I see in various places that have the themes:

1. I'm young I won't die, and I don't care about those old people.

2. I don't believe the media it is all a hoax.

3. The government isn't going to tell ME what to do. I am just going to get a bigger gun and more bullets for when we have an uprising.

Well if EVERYONE doesn't self quarantine or learn " sterile technique" you might not like the world we will find ourselves living in.

Examples for the young: ok you got Covid and got over it. Good for you, but your wife needs the hospital to deliver a baby by C section, well forget about it because the healthcare system will be overwhelmed. You have a heart attack, well the ambulance couldn't get to you and the ER is swamped. Too bad you die, and you might not have.
And forget about the idea you are young and therefore invincible. That is not entirely true as more recent data is showing. Many under 50 get very sick and need the ICU to live, they need upwards of 3 weeks hospitalization.

I am convinced by the models that show only severe means of separating people to stop exponential spread to buy time is the way to save ourselves. No we won't be instantly out of the woods, but every week we can buy to let the car companies get geared up to make PPE and buildings get repurposed as hospitals is more lives saved.

Here is one such model of the numbers. Long article, read carefully and to the end.

You hit on the biggest concern I have, the overwhelmed medical system. We take for granted our great medical system, but if it gets overwhelmed, it will make us feel like a third world country.

I sure hope I'm wrong.

I was at walgreens yesterday so my wife could pick up a prescription. Guy was looking for nitrile gloves and asked the pharmacist waiting on us. Of course the drug store was out of them. I brought up an overlooked resource by many.

I told him to run next door to the auto parts store.

What happened to the Canadian healthcare response to this? I was having a good discussion with a Canadian yesterday that seems to have disappeared.

No discussion of Canada and their current issues allowed? Why not? I have a lot of friends from Canada.

I don't get it, here we have doctors and nurses coming out of retirement to help people infected with this virus and then on the news they show cars bumper to bumper and hundreds of people on the same beach talking and laughing with no distance between each other not a care in the world. To me that's just total disrespect for each other and the great folks doing everything they can to protect us and help those who are infected. What is it going to take for people to understand how serious this is? In the news paper this morning cashers telling reporters of folks coming in all tanned bragging about how they just got back from a great vacation and needed to pick up supplies. Just how stupid are people? I'm loosing faith in humans. Ok, that's my rant for today.
