Can someone tell me what kind of couplers I have on my tractor?
The 3rd f(x) is Summit hydraulics.
The Homestead implements grapple I must have selected flat face.
I went to TsC and picked up these Pioneer couplers but they will not attach to the 3rd function.
This is on the tractor

Couplers have to match flat face males to flat-faced females. Same with the Pioneer couplers. Just swap them so there is both a male and female on one hose pair and do the same for the other hose and everything will work. If you want all flat-faced couplers, then go to Amazon and buy the Summit brand of flat-faced couplers or buy additional Pioneer couplers at tractor supply.

Wise ass math guy ehh :p

  • The Summit web page says the L01 3rd function kits come with 1/2" body Ag couplers. Your picture shows poppet valve couplers
  • The packege on your TSC couplers appears to say VP4000-3P which would be 3/8" body Ag couplers with poppet valve.
  • A 3/8" coupler will not mate with a 1/2" coupler-
  • You need 1/2" body poppet valve AG couplers and the Pioneer number for that is VP4000-4P. They will have a 1/2" NPT thread which may not match the ends on your hoses.
Personally I would buy a set from Summit - $18 versus $37 and no tax and no shipping:

Thanks all. This whole thing is confusing.
The hoses on the grapple are 3/8 and it looks like there’s an adapter to fit the flat face couplers so I’ll order the summit ones suggested.

Lioks luke youe hoses have JIC swivel ends. Remove the adapters from the flat face couplers. My guess is they are oring fittings at the coupler. Measure the dianeter of the threads on the the adapter and order couplers that match the adapters.

I got the new couplers from Summit but they don’t seem to fit correctly. I can get them in the fittings but the snap ring won’t come down. Any ideas?
Do the go together far enough you compress the valves? They have to be fully seated before the sleeve will move into place and lock.

What is the part number of the couplers you bought from Summit?

I can see a partial number stamped on the body of the female 3rd function coupler half. What does it say?

Any possibility there’s a good bit of pressure still in your lines that needs released?

They do compress but it feels like they won’t go all the way. Oil does drip out when they’re attached but not secured.
for one pair, these are the numbers
the grapple side is ag12f-08n
The side is ag12m-08s

Those should mate and lock fine. According to the Summit website
  • AG12F-08N is a 1/2" body female ISO 7241-A coupler half with 1/2" NPT port threads
  • AG12M-08S is a 1/2" body male ISO 7241-A coupler half with SAE-8 port threads
Keep trying.

Thanks again Dan, but I can’t get them to couple. The two on the grapple connect fine. Going to order two more to put on the tractor side and hope this issue is resolved. What a pain.

Well flat face and ag aren't ever going to connect Same for 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch bodies. Those are pretty obvious mistakes.

Now I am having difficulty following what is where. Will the male and female on the loader connect with each other? Which set did you buy from Summit?

Are the part numbers you gave me both on the implement?

The part numbers I gave you the 8n is on the grapple, 8s on the tractor. The two on the grapple connect fine to each other but will not cleanly connect onto the tractor.

couplers should always be bought in pairs, and you should always use the same size. I would take the couplers off of the hoses and see if they connect up. If they do, when you put them back on, they will connect the first time. After that, if there is pressure in the lines, they will give you the same grief. I had the same problem with the pioneer couplers that I had on my old BX22. My new BX23S uses flat-faced couplers, and they are a lot easier to couple together.

AG12 or A12 should work. Just went through this myself when borrowing a neighbors grapple. My tractor came with LP 3rd function and the grapple had flat face. Bought a set of AG12s with the 3/4 ORB inlet and worked like a charm.

Looked up my order. I bought AG12-08S from Summit. As the Hokie said, these may not match your hose end. The ones I got are 3/4 UNF with an O ring. The part he listed is pipe thread. It's just gonna depend on what you need on that side, but either will work to connect to the tractor side.
