Salt Corrosion will eat that Explorer alive within 24 months! The wiring harness will probably take it off the road though, before it breaks into pieces.

I would imagine the Dodge weighed a hundred pounds less afterwards, due to metal lost from rust. That era of Dodge rusted in the best of conditions, much less an ocean swim.
It is always amazing the dilemma's that people get themselves into.
