I'm considering picking up a ZD326S mower, but it's about 200 miles away. What's a reasonable price to have it moved here, to a residential address?

I bought a plow a few months ago and had it delivered via hot shot. Was right at $1 a mile, which was cheap compared to local hotshot drivers. For 200 miles I’d just drive to get it especially to check it out before buying.

Well, I can't get a 1700-pound mower in the bed of my truck. If I can get it here for anything like what you paid, I'll be very happy.

N.Y,
I got a price of $5.00 a loaded mile for a compact tractor a couple months ago. Be sure it's loaded and not a charge for both directions.

Didn’t you run into this a few months ago about not having a trailer to buy another mower?
Every place local to me was $5-$7 per mile. I couldn’t have drove it myself for $1 per mile so I opted to have it delivered. Sign up and get a shipping quote from them, just need estimated dimensions and weight.

I have been at this for a while. I got my old mower to run and replaced most of the exhaust system myself, so that gave me some space, but I still want to get rid of it because John Deere cut off the parts supply, and changing the blades is a job for Superman. Right now, I can probably get two grand for it, but when the next unavailable part fails, that will change.

My truck was messed up, so I looked into getting a trailer for the car. I found out the car was only fit for hauling Barbie furniture. The truck has just been fixed after a very long stay at the shop, but I need to put new tires on it and generally take care of things the mechanics didn't do.

I'm cleaning up hurricane wood and fixing other problems, and my wife is going through a high-risk pregnancy. My thinking is that if freight isn't too expensive, I'd rather just have someone else move it.

Toss it on uship get a few prices. Not something i would do for a tractor or vehicle but not much they can hurt on a mower.

You have no idea if the machine that you are purchasing is a beauty or a beast of burden, so it would be best if you were to have it checked out before purchase even if that means you make the trip with your car. If you only want to make the trip once, see if you can rent a U-Haul small truck that will handle the mower. If you can get a second driver, you could make the trip and if the machine is up to your standards, then pick up the U-Haul truck and when you get back home, you can drop it off at the local U-Haul dealer.

No friend with trailer.

It looks like it can be done for $600-$700, which is not all that bad. U-Haul says I'm not supposed to pull their trailers with my factory receiver unless I want to pull them empty. The receiver is rated for 1200 pounds.

I have no idea how much I can upgrade the receiver or what it would cost. The fuel would run about $100.

curious, I looked at U-hauls website, they LIE.... their '5by8' trailer is ONLY 4' 3.5" inside dimension !!
sigh.......
meanwhile my trailer IS 5' ( 60") INSIDE dimension, which means that mower would fit fine. At 1700#, it's an EASY pull as well.....

possible option, if you're not going there... find someone looking for a 'back haul' to your town.

Check out Tractor Supply. They rent trailers for moving mowers and tractors.

I realize this is not what you asked, but I agree with @DustyRusty .

Is seller willing to deliver for a fee / increase in the sale price? Maybe seller has a trailer?

If you don't move quickly it will be sold before you get there if it's a bargain. Maybe find something closer to home where you can personally inspect it before handing over funds.
