correct air pressure

I am a little confused as to the right answer.Just replaced a front tire on my l3800. Manual says 30 psi should be used then in a different paragraph it says use the max if using weights in front or a loader.Mine is equipted with a loader.Tire says max psi 45 so should I be using 45 or 30

Typically the more load on a tire the more air you need to "balance" the load to the the grip on the surface. However - I have found that max air pressure has a some what bad effect on ....YOU ! The higher the air pressure in the tire the harder it is on your body. The tire is the only shock absorber you have on the tractor, so a certain air pressure is better than the max or min.

I would say if you are going to be doing a lot of loader work at max bucket weight, then bump it up to 40's - if you are only going to get a load occasionally, and not a max load all the time, I would run around 35 or so.

Only you will "know" where the sweet spot is according to how you use your machine. Under psi tires are hard to turn with loaded bucket, and max psi don't grip as well as "proper" psi.......

experiment and I think you will find a point that meets the best all round.

45PSI, with a loader or front weights, you need all the support you can get and it also keeps the tires from squashing and biting to hard into the surface putting a huge strain on the front end and steering.

I have solid (foam filled) front tires and it's a charm to run with a loader on it, it's not too rough and steers great in all situations.

Been a few years since this thread was active but I will post here anyway. Have a new L2501 with FEL. Operating manual that I purchased through Fontis shows front tire pressure max of 26 psi for the 7.2-16 6ply tires. Says maintain max press with loader usage. However, the sidewall of the tire says max pressure is 52 psi. Bit of a difference in pressure so which one is the "more" correct ?? Thanks

Always go by the tire rating!
Tires info changes faster than the manuals info!

Thanks for the info. I guess I will increase them up to the 52 when using the FEL and see how it goes.

My old B7100 is far easier to steer with the front tires inflated to the max pressure from the tire rating, especially when doing FEL work.
Less susceptible to damage also.

When moving with a loaded bucket, take a glance at both tires. Too low and a sharp turn will break the bead on the tire. Bust tire loose a few times and its hard to keep air in it. Had a buddy cut his tire right through from rim spinning in tire. He didnt notice. Expensive mistake. He drove right out of one tire, think he would have learned. Can always tell a green tractor guy, cant tell him anything.....
