I have several conclusions:
1) I have neither the patience or temperament to be a police officer.
2) These officers did an amazing job.
3) Had I been there, she would have received either a ball gag or a nightstick to the forehead.
4) That is one psycho wack job that should be institutionalized & not allowed in public, let alone driving or picking up her kids.

Those 2 police officers should be commended for being very calm and collected threwout the whole process. Even the husband seemed cool and calm. It is amazing the amount of BS that police have to put up with on a day to day basis. It takes a lot of will power to be able to handle situations like that in a calm, cool manner.

This amazes me. How a tazer wasnt deployed ,that is.
The mans job is hard enough, why be impossible for no reason?
I worked with a retired enforcement officer,he explained how difficult it is.

I have rode with police officers many times(my dad is retired officer), the side of the road is NOT the place to argue the ticket. No one likes to get a ticket, but most are upset they got caught. I have heard officers get back in the car and say, "I would have given them a warning until they got nasty with me".
I know there may be a few bad apples out there, but most police officers are good people trying to do a good job. When you see fatalities due to excessive speed and/or drunk driving all the time, it sticks with you. They are trying to protect the traveling public because they see the consequences.
JOB WELL DONE by those officers!! She could have went to jail.
Kudos to the husband also, he maintained his cool and kept his wife from going to the slammer.
I hope she got some help with her issues.....

I think we as a society are creating this problem. Every time someone goes off like a wild animal and the police have to use excessive force to control the situation the cops loose their job or worse, go to jail. The only solution is to raise the bar in what is considered excessive force. People need to learn to respect the police.

As a police officer for 24 years in a high crime city, I can attest that this kind of behavior is not totally uncommon. Fortunately most of the people we deal with already know they are wrong and don't throw this kind of fit. However there are always those "privileged" people who because of the liberal media that the law does not apply to them and will try to tell you your job and your place in life. I could tell from the start of the stop that the driver was going to be a problem. Nothing against nice cars I love BMW but I see the BMW and other higher end car owners behave like this more often.
And once the cuffs are on, they should not be taken off until the station. There is no under arrest and then not under arrest. That just gives the suspect a reason to sue or file a complaint.

When I was a "Volunteer Fed" I got "trained" every six months by a couple of former Feds who did their last gig at the airport here in Phoenix. They had some great stories about people acting up.

Every weekend it seemed one big malcontent would get crossways with a flight crew in flight or ground crew during boarding. Their bad behavior would escalate until the individual would pronounce to everyone there how he was going to "KICK YOUR ASS TO CALIFORNIA!!!" These two old salts would calmly walk down and arrest the guy or take the guy if the local cops had already cuffed him. In turn, they would hand him off for transport down to Sheriff Joe's jail for the night. They next day, these "big tuff guys" would be released, in cuffs for transport back at the airport to these old guys. They said after a night down at the 4th St. jail, they'd come back with a totally changed tune, crying like babies, usually saying they "never ever wanted to spend another minute in a place like that."

(For those of you who don't know, Sheriff Joe lost his re-election bid to a Bloomberg financed candidate who has now done away with Tent City and has planned many "improvements" to the Phoenix jail system.)

What's a better deterrent? A safe but scary experience with bad food or a happy place with TV, magazines, and good food?

Anyone that has "nothing to hide" can easily comply with any officers requests. Not doing so implies you are hiding something, guilty of something. Don't argue with a cop on scene, just record things on paper yourself afterwards if you want to dispute something. In court, your written records are just as valid as the cop's notes...Just an opinion.

I'm always thankful for people willing to do a job that I couldn't do.

Sign the stupid ticket lady.
