The MSDS lists hydrated inorganic acids and organic acids in some unspecified quantites. The specific chemistry is "proprietary".

The Kubota sales brochhure is more specific = no silicates, borates, phosphates, or nitrites. That rules out IAT chemistry that relies on phosphates and silicates that form a protective coating on the surfaces of the cooling system.

There is no doubt its fundamentally OAT extended life chemistry which typically relies on carboxylates as inhibitors. Carboxylates are neutralized salts of organic acids that inhibit corrosion by interacting chemically at the sites of metallic corrosion rather than totaling coating the entire surface of the cooling system.

IAT coolant chemistry is as dead as nondetergent engine oils.

I bet that most of the corrosion in a cooling system occurs when there's no flow of coolant around the system. Intermetallic particles in the bulk metal can become strong cathodes with the surrounding parent metal being the anode. But that type of pitting corrosion requires a specific and often local pH range that could occur if the flow is stagnated. Eventually, after enough pitting and undercutting, the intermetallic particle falls out and corrosion in that area stops.

If you ever look at metal alloys using a SEM you'll find a lot of intermetallic particles in the matrix e.g. pure Cu, Zn, Pt etc.

Anyway, I'm going to continue using the coolant that the local Kubota dealer sells which is the NAPA stuff that I showed above.

I would be surprised if the NAPA coolant is IAT. What does it say on the front label?

This is the stuff that the local Kubota dealer sells. I don't know why they don't sell Kubota branded coolant, but I remember the parts counter guy telling me that they get it through NAPA and have a MAP agreement with NAPA.

In the US Kubota LLC is manufactured by CCI Automotive Products. They are based in Thailand and are one of if not the principal supplier of automotive coolant in Asia. Their Golden Cruiser line is a POAT product used as factory fill by OEMs in that market place. I suspect their US formulation is nothing more than the "standard duty" (2 yr. 40K miles, green, red) Golden Cruiser product manufactured in CCI's IL plant. In Asia they also produce a "heavy duty" version of Golden Cruiser (4 yr, 80K miles, blue, violet).

That appears to be old school IAT coolant. Its your tractor so do what you want but I would not use that in anything I own including the 1951 Ford 8N. It needs to be changed annually not every two years.

I dont know why a Kubota dealer eould use it - its not what Kubota specifies for their equipment. The operator's manual for your MX6000 is quite specific - use only long life coolant. I imagine the M6060 says the same.

I don't know why the dealer only sells the NAPA stuff. I was in there today picking up an exhaust gasket and oil filter for the MX and should have asked them why they don't sell Kubota branded coolant. I'll stop by tomorrow and ask them if they know what they're selling.

I found out today that the dealership is moving to a new location which is about 8 miles from me as opposed to the current 3 miles. They'll be much closer to the center of town now. Good for them, not so much for me.

I changed the MX coolant this past summer so it's only been in the system for a few months. The M6060 has whatever it left the dealer in Sheridan, WY with.

So this thread has been helpful and I'll probably order Kubota coolant from Messick's or similar. I have no interest in being a reliability and longevity guinea pig for engine coolant. This equipment is way too expensive for that.

All Kubota wants is a modern long life coolant. There are dozens of products on the shelf at your local NAPA, Walmart, Autozone, TSC, ....

All Kubota wants is a modern long life coolant. There are dozens of products on the shelf at your local NAPA, Walmart, Autozone, TSC, ....
When I look at long or extended life coolant service intervals, such as the chart in the link below, it seems to be a lot longer than two years. Kubota's recommended service interval seems to be more inline with conventional coolant. Regardless, I'll find something else and pass on the content in this thread to the local dealer in case they're not aware of the disparity between what they're selling and what Kubota recommends.
