Converting to bottled/natural gas

With all this talk about gen sets lately it has set my minid in motion,,SOOOO

OK now I know there is more knowledge in here than any place I know of almost, Any how I was thinking/wondering/contemplating about maybe somehow adding something to run bottled gas as well as gasoline for the gen set. Or even natural gas hook up. Yeah I have seen the adapter kits a couple 300 bucks but I cant think its all that hard to do it with out one of these kits. So has anyone done this or knows anything about doing it?

I looked into this a while back. We lose power a couple times a year (small side street with lots of old trees over the lines) and mom wanted something to keep the furnace running.

It's not complicated but you're still better off with the kit. The cheapest method is to drill out and tap the main jet of the old carb for a standard gas fitting and a new jet which you then hook up to a propane regulator. The trick is matching the regulated pressure to the jet size so you've got the proper mixture. The kit comes with a new jet and regulator so it's plug in and play otherwise you've got some homework to do if you want to build it yourself.

dont know much about how you do this but what i can tell you is i worked for the durango and silverton rail road several yrs
and all ther gensets are ran buy propane as a wrech head mechanic is waz my duty to repair them when they went down
in approx 8yrs i worked on 2 ya two both same issue genset were runnin ruff k ???
Both times both machines were starving for air the filters here clogged up and that all
removed replaced both ran exellent thats my lil input and knoledge and experience hope it helps u
because this site and the answers i get and all the insight are priceless

I think 300 bucks is a small price to pay to keep your ass from getting blown up if you did something wrong yourself and there's a leak in the fuel lines....

Better yet less likely to loose your house if its done right!
