Considering upgrading from B7800HST to L3800HST

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum, considering upgrading my 2006 B7800HST to L3800HST for the extra capabilities; added lift capacity, increased lift height (have a loft in the barn that I would like to reach with pallet forks), extra HP. I have not had any problem with my B7800HST, it has strained a bit on tougher jobs and the weight of the tractor can be an advantage and disadvantage depending on what you are doing. I have little over 5 acres I mow, landscape, move dirt, sand, and mulch. Trying to justify the extra expense of upgrading, about $10K (with 2013 L3800HST with FEL, universal quick attach bucket.) Honestly there is not much I can't do with the B7800HST that I need the L3800HST for but the work will be done a lot easier.

I like my L3200 & now that I loaded the rears I wish I had a 3800. Previously it was traction limited now I can stall it in low on occasion.

The 3200/3800 are somewhat notorious for having a rough 3pt hitch, so keep an eye on that when you check them out. It isn't that rough empty, but gets jerky with a decent implement on it. Doesn't affect all of them though.

I paid attention to that when I test drove the L3800, I raised and lowered the 3pt hitch probably a dozen times and the hitch was jerky if I raised the handle slowly but if I raised it at a medium speed and all the way up it was smooth. This without an implement on, sale man even stood on the arm once while I lifted to add a little weight. Seemed OK but my reference is the 1/4" valving on the B7800 that has not been smooth over the last 8 years.

As I mentioned in your other post on here... If you feel you've out grown the B7800 and could use a little extra muscle then the L3800 will be well worth the investment. Many of us on here myself included wish we had a bigger tractor but we make do with what we do have. I'd say go for it, you wont have any regrets at all. You'll be able to do things you never knew you could before.

I've had a L3800DT a little over 2 years now and Love it!

Just do it, you wont be sorry...

For my needs the L3800 is on the small size, but got a great deal and couldn't pass it up. I was going to use it as a stepping stone and trade it in on a larger one in a few years.

Have a new plan now, will keep the L3800 & get a larger one in a few years.

Congratulations on your new tractor, that is a nice step up from your previous tractor and I believe you will quickly come to appreciate th position control 3PH over the quarter inching.
