confused with quick hitch bushings: category 2 or 3?

I've got a titan quick hitch, which I presume is the same as most of the imported versions of the same thing. I know most implements need to have bushings to convert them from cat1 to cat2, as the quick hitch accepts cat2. However, cat3 fits tighter with less slop, so that's what I've been doing: converting implements from cat1 to cat2 to cat3. Is that "standard" or are most people using cat2 bushings on their implements and the slop is just fine?

Generally speaking, you should NOT be able to put a CAT 3 implement into a CAT 2 hitch .CAT 3 imps would be 'big and heavy', wayy above the design specs of CAT 2 hitches,and possibly the design limits of the tractor.

The O.D. of the lower bushings should be 1.450" which is, I believe, the diameter of a Cat 3- 3PH pin. The horizontal and vertical dimensions of a Cat 1 QH are too small to mate up to a true Cat 3 implement. Top hook bushing O.D. is 1.25

My FarmHand QH is Cat 1 and 2 on the tractor side and Cat 1 on the implement side.

My top link is 1 1/4" and my lower links are 1 7/16, which I believe are true cat3 sizes, and it fits well in my quick hitch. I guess I'm just not sure if I should continue to convert to these sizes because they fit, or am I overthinking it and Cat2 sizes are what I'm supposed to use despite being a little sloppy.

My experience with QH's (3 different bands) the hooks are sized to cat3. A cat 1 QH is sized for cat1 implements. Cat2 implements are wider than the lift arm spacing of a cat1 QH.

I buy cat1 to cat3 lift arm bushings. The top link, I use a cat1 to cat2 and a cat2 to cat3 top link bushing to get a proper fit on the top hook.

Ideas to make implements QH compatible

Get the most benefit from your quick hitch. Buying new get QH compatible. Here is a photo of an implement whose manufacturer has their act together. Note how it's designed for cat 1 & 2. Also the lift arm spacing can be adjusted. Some "QH compatible" only need minor modification. This TSC...

I had to look at both the tractor and QH datasheets... the tractor is CAT1, the QH is both CAT1 and CAT 2.
I think you'd need bushings to increase the CAT1 implements to fit onto the QH, properly. Now the fact you need to pervert a CAT1 implement to cat 2 then to cat 3 to get a 'firm fit' (NOT sloppy ) means the QH CAT2 spec is waaaay out of whack. Maybe a Metric vs Imperial dismension ??? Someone screwed up caus ethe specs are online, universal, have been for decades.
In any event, you need a 'firm fit' NOT sloppy. Best thing would be to have a machine shop make pairs of 1-piece adapters, CAT 1 on the inside, Cat 3 on the outside,then pin them to the implements.
As for the top link, I'd buy and bolt one onto each implement.would save time when hooking up and operating.

My QH takes CAT3 bushings. For most things I was able to find them but for the land plane I couldn't find the right size, so ended up doubling up: CAT1-CAT2, then CAT2-CAT3 outside that.

that's what I do: convert my cat1 implements to cat3 to fit nicely in my quick hitch. Just seems a bit odd, with all the bushings required adding up to $50 or so. It seems to me that these QH manufacturers could simply make a true Cat2 QH, since making a QH to fit up to Cat3 starts to get out of the realm of what a Cat1 ro 2 tractor could handle anyway. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy for converting Cat1 to 3...

SpeeCo E-hitch and LP05, LP10 have lower hooks sized for cat1 pins. Looks like the top hooks are the larger hooks and may need bushings.
