I am about to put my L3430 back together after overhauling the motor and replacing the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing. The WSM says to grease the splines on the clutch but doesn't specify the grease or state a warning on over use of grease getting on the clutch disk. The splines that engage the clutch and the flywheel hub were dry and rusty when I split the tractor, doesn't look like they were greased at the factory. I'm thinking if I use anything it will be a very thin swipe of never seize. What are the experts doing when servicing Kubota clutches?
Thanks

You can wipe a thin layer on the splines, doesn't need to be much, just makes it easier to assemble and keep it from binding on the initial runup which can cause damage.

I wouldn't suggest neversize as that can destroy a clutch disk quicker than grease ever could.

After cleaning up shaft, I've used Molybdenum Disulfide dry film lubricant spray and then a thin coating of high quality grease.

I've found the moly dry film lubricant to work really well on PTO splines and such over the years. Perhaps overkill, but I try to get as much time between repairs as possible.

Example of what I'm referencing?
