Need to ask a dumb question here. I just sold my John Deere 3032e and am going Monday to pick up a new Kubota L2501. I see the L2501 has a clutch pedal. The John Deere did not have a clutch pedal. What do you use the clutch for? I would guess maybe for starting and pto engagement and maybe to change speed range. Any thing else? None of these required clutching on a Deere so I am not sure if these are the reasons for a clutch on a Kubota or I've missed something else.

Yep, just to start and to change range. Heck, I very seldom ever touch the brakes either!!

On my bx2370-1 the pedal on the left is indeed a brake... for parking tractor. Pedals on right are hydro forward and reverse. Parking brake also has a button on floor to press down to lock parking brake. I am guessing the L2501 is about the same.

You use the clutch when changing speed range, when engaging pto and when engaging the front wheel drive train. ;)

According to the website, it has a live PTO, so you'll need the clutch to engage/disengage. The manual will say to use it to change ranges or engage/disengage 4WD, but many of us don't and the new GL has eliminated the clutch.
