I have a 2004 L-3400 390 hrs four wheel drive and loader, with standard 8 speed trans, I also have a two wheel drive 2005 L-3400 with 360 hrs, the clutch on my 04 has to be fully pressed to the floor for a good clean shift through gears or from forward to reverse, my 05 works cleanly from 1/2 to 3/4 from floor, I would like the 04 to work the same. Can any one tell me how much to adjust the linkage to accomplish this, or should I leave it alone. I have no clutch slippage in either machine, just would like to keep up with the clutch wear adjustments on my loader if needed..Thx

Can you not just compare the two? Are the linkage systems the same? Make the 04 look like the 05 and try it. If you don't like what you get, put it back to where you started.

How is the freeplay on the clutch? How far can you depress the clutch before you can feel the resistance increase (throwout bearing contacting pressure plate fingers)? It may just need the free play adjusted. You might also have to go in and adjust the position of the fingers themselves if they're the adjustable type like mine. If the freeplay is out of whack take a picture of the linkage and I can describe how to adjust it.

I bought a (07) Kubota L3400 with loader, and now have 400 hrs. on it,time to change all fluids. Before I bought it, I started it up,drove around for 10 mins., used the loader up and down, it was great.
But after a couple weeks of using at home, with a Fransgurd 4000/winch, another story. I noticed after the tractor was warmed up, I had to hold the clutch down for up to 20secs. or so before I could put it in to gear, but as long as I was shifting from fwd. to reverse, it didn't grind at all, as long as the tractor didn't move, but when put in neutral, I had to hold the clutch down 20-30secs. Not Acceptable, so when Kubota sent a survey, I wrote this tractor sucks, in a Christian way. A week or so later, a Kubota Rep. got a hold of the dealer and recommended putting 2 more gal. of transmission fluid in, and that did help a lot on the grinding. Now I just hold the clutch down for 4-8 secs., much better and tolerable.
