Ran the tiller once over the raked area

Plowed up a new section. Before anyone says how bad the plowing looks. Yah I know. That had to be the worst chunk of ground i have plowed to date. Numerous big rocks. Lots of vines. Small rocks getting jammed between the plower and cutting disk. Ugh. Didnt spend much time actually on the tractor.

Got 14 rows of veggies and herbs plated.

Tree got in the way of plowing. It was going to be coming out anyways when I clear the next section of meadow.

The strawberries are growing. The kids are really enjoying checking on them and watching how much they grow and change.

They cant wait to pick the first ripe ones.

Gosh, BCrouse - my thoughts were exactly what skeets said very well!

Heck - you're not doing this work for our approval; you're doing it for your own satisfaction. Look at my Grading Advice thread, and you'll see my broadcast technique isn't a whole lot better!:eek:

Everything planted is sprouting.

Looks like something got my two almost ripe strawberries. Mouse or chipmunk maybe.

Need to do some weeding between the sunflower rows.

Just wait until year 3.... we just hit our third year and strawberries are going ballistic. We must have had 50+ blooms between about 12 plants around Mother's Day. Should be ready to start picking next week. We let them shoot runners at their leisure last year and we now have a very good mix of years. Strawberries are an incredibly hardy plant. They do surprisingly well at 7000'. If this is your first year, you should consider nipping runners as it encourages growth in the root system.

Thanks. Yah these have been "surviving" in a big planter pot for the past 3 years. This is the first year they'll get to spread their legs. So, ill see what they do.

Go to run the tiller through the newly plowed expansion. Then worked it over with the landscaper rake. Man that was rough. So many rocks and roots. Its still not where it needs to be to plant, but its getting better.

Material the landscape rake pulled out. I had to constantly pull the 3pt up, back up and lower the 3pt every 5-8ft to really start removing debris. It was like sweeping with a giant motorized broom. Are my expectations wrong that the dirt should go through the tines and the rocks and roots should be the only thing in the piles? Seem to be catching way more dirt than what I want.

And now for a little "As the crops grow"

Turnips

In reading about guys running their landscape rakes.....seems like I read some of them say that buy removing every other tine, they work much better. Just hearsay on my part, as I have never even seen a landscape rake...good luck.;)

Of all the things I've planted, the sunflowers were not the ones I expected the deer to eat.

Deer LOVE young sunflower plants. From what I've seen sunflowers are probably #3 on my list of deer's favorite foods.

#1 Soybeans (They'll eat them from sprouts to full grown and even eat the beans)
#2 Peanuts
#3 Sunflowers

I've always said soybeans were like deer candy and peanuts were like deer ice cream, sunflowers would probably be like deer cookies or cake.

The Kale is doing well. That rain helped.

Just a lil guy. Wonder where momma has it hidden.

Cherries are ripe

Serviceberries are ripe to (or Snozzberries as my kids call them)

And had some of the wildflowers actually flower. Thought they were all duds.
