Trackhoe Troubles_2.jpg

This operator had been cleaning out a county drainage ditch with one track on the levee and apparently the other track on the hard packed snow in the ditch. The snow gave way and the rig slid down the steep bank. the operator was able to get out and had a very cold swim to shore where he crawled out. The rig is still there now (a few days later) and the water is still over the tracks. Going to be interesting to see how and when they're able to extract that big hoe! Yikes!!

Yeah, that's not good. I don't see a snorkel sticking up anywhere.

Saw a guy put a D6 into a sand mining pond once. At least that was in the summer. The boss made him dive down and hook the tow cable to it. Lucky for him the drawbar was only about three feet underwater.

along I29 ????
Between I-29 and the Red River of the North, about a mile south of Grand Forks. There's a deep drainage ditch there that's part of the flood control system.

That had to have a been a bone chilling swim to the nearest bank. Haven't heard if the operator had the presence of mind to shut the engine off as it went in. He was real lucky it didn't tip over!
