I have a B1750 HST-D. I like to keep an eye on the level of the lubricants. The engine and the HST both have dipsticks, but the front axle does not. The owners manual and the Workshop manual both specify the capacity of the axle, but they do not mention how to check the level. The fill plug is located on the top of the axle tube, so I don't feel that the level needs to be at the bottom of the threads. Is there any specs that I'm not aware of?

It looks like there is a plug on the right side of the center section. You'd remove that to check fluid height and either fill it there or through the top fill plug until fluid runs out of there.

I had a chance to look at my axle. The only plug in that area is the drain plug. I feel that the parts diagram is not accurate as far as the location is concerned. Seems strange that there is no way to check the level short of changing the fluid. axle1.jpg
