Have a MX5100dt w/ FEL. Would removing from tires make it easier to access drain plug and fluid? Would support front with FEL. Realize it is not necessary however would make must less mess on draining fluid. Suggestions. Owners manual has fluid capacity at 11 1/2 qts., Dealer says 9 1/2 qts. Any one done this before?

I use the FEL to lift the wheels just off the ground. Used some cardboard or foil to direct oil off the tires into a drain pan. Takes a while to drain and fill. Definitely a warm weather job. Took several days of topping off to fill the front axle of the M59 of 10.5qt capacity.

Spinning the tires by hand and filling with Lucas synthetic gear lube helped changing fluid in the B26 front axle.

All tractors that I have changed the front fluid have taken the volume stated in the manual. Models with dipsticks much easier to check.

Removing the tires will definitely help. Running the tractor for a short time and getting the oil warm will help as well. If you have time the best thing to do is let it sit overnight and drain. Google formable funnels. That's what I use and and don't have to take the tires off. Works the same way as the cardboard that was suggested.
