Are there videos to show how to change attachments? I'm a 57 year old woman who works nights. My neighbors used to change my attachments for me, but they would always do it when I wasn't there to watch. Now, they are busy, and I can't even find someone to pay to change one right now.

Here's a YouTube video.

The principal is the same no matter the size of the tractor or implement.

The PTO shaft collar that slides back, to hook onto the PTO, is inside the plastic end cover. That can be frustrating until you get that figured out.

It might look difficult, but after a couple times doing it you'll have no problems.

And if you go to your local tractor store and ask nicely, they'll answer questions and probably show you how to do it.

I am in my mid sixties and understand your problems as even knowing how something is done, it can be hard at times. That is an excellent video. I now have extendable lower links and hydraulic top and side links making hooking up much easier, but use to keep a dead blow hammer handy to get the side links on, hated kicking them. Some find a quick hitch like PATS or others handy.

I found the Vid from Mike at Big Rock to be very informative and a good watch for anyone at anytime, there are a few hints in there that are good to get a refresher on...

I now own the Pat's system and it is much easier, honestly it is

BUT

That is a big but hehehe, if you are not familiar with PTO hookup and the way the PTO shaft expands and contracts then the Pat's system can be a major nightmare in the making.. It does add 4 inches to the arm length, and that has to be taken into account. the easy solution is to add a PTO extension to the shaft, but this "can" create other problems, so having a correctly sized shaft is the real solution..

Basically what I am saying is really do your research and make an informed decision...

(I put the parenthesis around the can as even this is a bit of YMMV some people swear by them others swear at them)

I just watched that video and there are a couple of post-attachment things he didn't show:

1. He extended the right lower lift arm in hooking up. If you have to extend or shorten the lift arm in order to hook up, you'll want to re-adjust it after you're hooked up. If you don't, chances are that your implement will not be level from side to side.

2. He also extended the top link to hook up. Same thing here. If you have to shorten or extend the top link to hook up, you'll want to adjust it after you're hooked up. Otherwise, you're implement won't be level (or at whatever angle of attack you need) from front to back. For example, on a rotary mower, you typically want it an inch or two higher in the back than in the front.

Maybe someone on OTT lives close to you and could help, or place an ad on craigslist, I bet there is a tractor lover out near you that would help you, give it a try.

Here is a thought to make your three point hook up much easier than the grief shown in the video. Most Category 1 implements have about a 27 inch spacing between the pins on the ends. Harbor Freight and others sell a quick hitch that is permanently mounted on the arms and the top link. On some implements it is necessary to take off this quick hitch and do it the hard way. With this quick hitch, you backup to the implement and raise the arms so the hooks on the quick hitch latch on the pins of the implement. Next you attach the top link. I have found the hook that comes with the quick hitch does notwork well on some implements so I substitute a length of steel strap with holes drilled in it. that can be any convenient length, say 6". I use 1/2" bolts at the tractor end and the size that the implement wants there.

See next post. Click on them to get full shot size.

WFM that was cold,,, did ya find out what kind of boat she has? :D,,
We are only teasing of course. You have just been made a member of the gang now;). And 3 pts can be a PIA to be sure but if you can park them someplace on the level and block them in place before you pull the pins, then your next hook up will be a lot easier when you back into them and the luging and tugging shouldn't be as hard on you

Ahhh. The internet age is here and a new strategy has occurred to me. If I really need help fast I'll post as a newbie under the name Fifi LaFlame. I'll mention that I just split with my boyfriend and how difficult it is to shop for clothing because the jeans are all too big and the bras are all too small:D
