I have a soon to be 1 year old Kubota Grand L 3240HSTC with only 20 hours of light duty use on it. I am going to change engine oil and filter (even though oil still looks new) and am asking if hydraulic and HST filters should be changed also. I know manual advises to do it at 50 hours, but it has been almost a year and probably 1/2 those hours were from moving snow last winter. Temperature ranges from -20 to 100+ during the year and I am thinking about the condensation being in there. I don't think I would change those fluids, just the filters. Dealer wants $120.00 for the 2 filters. What would you do? Also I am thinking about using Rotella diesel oil when I change it. Is there any warranty concerns doing this?

I just did my 50 hour service a few weeks back. i contacted Kubota about the hyd oil R&R and they emailed me that it's not required at 50 hours, but that the filters should be changed. I went ahead and changed the hyd oil and it looked like brand new. So, it was probably a waste of time and money, but I feel better about it anyway.

As for Rotella, that's what I put in my tractor and have actually seen a decrease in fuel consumption (I couldn't believe it) and the oil is staying surprisingly clean with approx. 15 hours on it since the change. I'm sold on it. As for the warranty...not sure how they could void the warranty when the Rotella meets or exceeds the manufacturer's requirements.

Seems like over kill to me, but I assume you don't want to do the maintenance in the middle of winter. That's kinda what happened to me whenever I hit 50hrs, only it was in the middle of spring when I was busy.

If it makes you feel better do the filter change, at least you won't have to worry about it for a while.

Just my two cents...

Change engine oil and filter yearly and hydro oil and filters per owner's manual, buy hours. Rotella is fine.

Any money and time spent on preventive maintenance is not wasted in my opinion. Rosella is great oil for Diesel engines, I use full synthetic in my 3830HST. I changed fluid and filters at 50 hours, it just made me feel better. I plan on my grandsons to wear this out long after I am gone! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1377824723.859735.jpg

Its generaly good to stay away from oil discussions on internet forums but on the warrenty part...
There was a law passed many years ago preventing manufacturers from denieing warrenty claims if you do your own work and use materials that meet of exceed the factory specs. I think it also required you to save your reciepts as proof.
