Can't decide BX1870 or 2370 for mowing

I have 3 acres to mow and lots of snow to move. Not sure the 1870 would run my 50" blower or 48" tiller well. 60" deck takes 2 1/2 hours to mow 3 acres. Maybe if all i did was mow, the 1870 would work. I have a 2350 with loader and wish it was a 2670.

I went with the 1870 because the 48" deck was the max size that can maneuver many of the trails that connect different parts of my property. The larger wheels on the 2370 interfere with the guide wheels on the 48" deck; 54" is the smallest deck that will work on the 2370 or 2670.

I wanted the extra power of the 2370, and would have paid for it. But now with about 80 hrs on the 1870: No regrets. I have yet to mow anything really high/thick, but I have moved a lot of firewood and rocks on some steep hills. Power has not been a problem. The HST seems to strain more than the engine.

I'm figuring the slightly lower center of gravity is also a plus for me. If I had to buy a new one tomorrow, I'd stick with what I've got.

i have a 1870 and never had a issue of no power, i have 1-3 acres i cut (hills and angles), i have a 48" deck to get in tight spots,,i have used the loader to move 4 yards of stone up a hill and never regretted my choice, i was looking at a GR 2120 but the cost difference was a better choice to buy a 1870 the bonus to me was have a loader , the Hp difference i never noticed i drove both when i was looking,plus i got a deal on mine so i decided on the 1870

I too am having trouble deciding between the 1870 and 23. The front end loader does lift 100 more lbs as well on the 23. Tom, what did you end up paying for the tractor?

I also cannot decide between 54 and 60 deck. I am concerned with scalping and I do have a lot of obstacles (shrubs and trees). The 54 is only a $140 savings. I would think that most people would like the 60 for resale? The mowers are expensive. More than I have ever paid for a riding mower!

First, let me say that I think the BX23/2670 are mighty fine units.

They have a slightly larger footprint and a HP advantage over the BX1870. However, as already mentioned, that HP advantage means very little when the limiting factors are stability and traction. The 1870 already has more HP than the chassis can accommodate. Also, I can lift a heaping bucket of gravel into the back of our RTV with ease. Adding another 100 pounds of capacity to the loader would also seem of very little practical benefit. With a 54" mmm and the Kubota PTO powered bagger, I can cut and bag wet grass and leaves at a steady 3,300 rpm on any of our steep hills. Personally, I think the entire BX line is pretty darn awesome. We do have a 60 hp loader tractor as well. The little BX1870 has saved the bigger tractor many hours of operation.

If you have your heart set on armrests, the BX1870 may not be for you...

I have the BX1860 and my neighbor has the BX2350. I have used both of them for the same digging, loading, and hauling tasks. I have used that BX2350 for about 10 hours against the almost 600 hours that I have used my BX1860. There is literally nothing that the BX2350 has done on my property that the BX1860 cannot do. And I have the rockiest 5 acres that I have ever seen with a house on it.

I guess what I am saying is that bigger is not always better. I love my BX1860, it does everything I have tasked it to do.

If I had the BX25 I would want more HP too. But that machine has a whole different purpose than my BX1860 or even the BX2350.

I wonder why they named it the BX25 if they only put a 23 HP engine in it? It seems to me that it should have the larger 26 HP in it to begin with.

Would you consider stepping up to a B series?
I bought a B2320HST with FEL, box blade and FDR mower for under $16k
More than enough tractor for my 5 acres. I keep finding more uses for it every day. The B series also allows you access to more equipment in the future.
And the B2320 with a mid mower is actually less than the BX you are looking at.
