Can a L2501 lift a 6x6 round bale?

I have a L2501 w/loader and I'm in need of some hay. A guy I work with has 6x6 round bales he'll let me have for cheap but I want to make sure I can unload them once they're here. Can the L2501 lift a large round bale? I'd hate to attempt it not knowing and damage my tractor or his truck. Thanks in advance.

I have and he thinks they're closer to 2k lbs but isn't really sure. Everything I've read online suggests they weigh anywhere from 1200 to 1700+ lbs. I've moved some 35"x5' oak logs before and it definitely pushed the limits of my tractor but it's doable.

6x6 will be closer to 2000 lbs.........

You might be able to move them in the field, but I don't think you'll be able to lift them off a truck or trailer.

No, any round bales are going to be too much for an L2501!

Maybe I missed it- are you referring to lifting with a loader, or the 3 point? I assume loader, because you wouldn't be able to unload from a truck with the 3 point. If you have a rear spear, you may be able to roll them off of the truck and then use the 3 point to lift them. It should get them off of the ground enough to move around. However, if you are considering using the loader, I think that you may be pushing the limit. I unload bales with a 743 skid steer, 1300 lb lift. It handles round bales fine, but it is pushing the limits of the machine. They will be much further out from the pins on an L2501, and I don't believe that it is advisable.

I've measured my lift capacity on my 743, I can lift about 1400-1500lbs before I tip forward while trying to move, if I put a counterweight (200lbs) on the back I can get up to 2k and still remain upright, the hydraulic relief valve will kick in just over that.

In contrast I can only pick up about 1400lbs with the L3450 and that's a bigger tractor and loader than a L2501.

Have your hay supplier load the bales on a side dump trailer, even if you have to rent it, then you can maybe get them where you need them with a 3-pt bale spike.
