So, kind of off the wall. Has anyone ever mounted a camera on their snowblower to keep an eye on the snow buildup around the auger? You can if it is turning by the blowing snow but there is no way to tell when the wet / icy stuff packs in enough to stop the auger and break the shear pin. Was clearing some deep snow to an area where I need to fell some trees and went through 3 shear pins in an hour.

So, anyone tried this and have any results? I run a 74" blower on the front of my Kubota.

Thanks!

lol, I have a rear view camera on the tractor. When the blower is operating all you see is white.

While researching front-mounted snowblowers a while back I found a video on YouTube posted by GP Outdoors in which he did just as you were contemplating. I have no link for the vid but should be easy to find - good luck! :)

re: mounted a camera on their snowblower

well if it live streamed to utube, you'll make a LOT of money... those final few seconds when it falls off and goes INTO the blower then gets spit out 'far, far away'.... :)
I really hope you don't try to grab it before the blower does.....
hands and arms are worth more than any gopro camera.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt it would work especially in heavy wet snow the camera would get covered in snow. I have a camera mounted on front of my side x side and when water splashes onto it you can't see anything again untill you wipe it off.

you just need to add heaters to melt the white, then compressed air to blow the water away...
