Anyone know if this is a standard ammo can size? I’d like to replace mine a with a metal box but it’s a weird size. My first one was broken on delivery. I just noticed my replacement has cracked down the side after about one year. Even though my tractor is stored inside 360 days out of the year, the sun and cold in Colorado are very tough on anything plastic.

I would think it is standard size, never thought to look for a metal one. Just picked up a plastic at Cabelas. If you find out it would be nice to know.

I just noticed that BXPanded now states on their website that the box is approximately 11" X 5" x 7". A standard GI ammo can is 10"x3.5"x7". The odd size that BXPanded uses seems to be more common in the plastic variety of ammo cans. I ordered several plastic .30 cal boxes that appear to be of higher quality and will see if any of them fit. Also ordered a couple metal surplus cans, but I doubt they will fit securely. Real bummer that BXPanded doesn't just use the standard GI size. Even if you had to "bring your own" surplus can it would still be a better product.

Look at the ***8220;Tool Box***8221; YS-350.

Made in Japan and metal. Just a bit larger than what come standard on my L. Not sure what room you have to work with.. they have other sizes too.

For anyone interested, this one will fit: Plano Ammunition Field Box Ammo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004W3WC84?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I also tried this one: Sheffield 12630 Field Box- Orange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BWTMC6J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. But it won’t fit (too wide). May have fit if I bent out the sides of the mount but I was impatient.

Also tried a metal can. No way they will fit without serious modification. Seems the plastic cans are tapered (smaller at the bottom), while the metal cans are true rectangles. Be advised that all the advertised dimensions on the plastic cans (and the dimensions given by BXPanded) are at the top of the box. Which is useless information for finding a replacement.
