BX2822A 55" Commercial Snow Blower - What is the HYDRUALIC deflector configuration WITHOUT 3rd function setup

Hello.

I've ordered a B2601, complete newbie to tractors.

Dealer said I can get the HYDRAULIC DEFLECTOR for the BX2822A 55" Commercial Snow Blower WITHOUT having to add the tractor third function.

Does anybody have pictures of, or can explain the setup for that setup? What do they mount on the joystick for control? What runs to the snowblower (electrical lines only?)? How and where are electrical and hydraulic connections made?

Driving me nuts to figure it out.

Hopefully this will explain the options you can chose from.

b2756 uses one of the functions from the joystick that would be for FEL

b2516a is all electric with a switch mounted anywhere to move the deflector up or down

bfl2518a is the third function control, all hydraulic with a swictch on the joystick to control deflection. Rotation is done with the FEL hydraulics

bl2666a would be the diverter valve selection with a switch mounted on the joystick to choose which function either rotation or deflection. Only one function at a time can be activated and used. This is the option that your dealer is referring to.

These are for my b2782b 63 inch residential snowblower, your actual optional kits may be different numbers, but these are the four Kubota ways to control rotation and deflection on a snowblower.

Thank you. Based on your picture, BL2666A looks like it's the configuration for a machine without the THIRD function (how I purchased my machine).

But that number, BL2666A was NOT AN OPTION to purchase. So it's really even more confusing now. lol.

That said, I ordered BX2812A "Hydraulic Chute Deflector kit for BX2816/BX2822A/BX2830"

It seems like there should be a version for a machine WITHOUT the third function, and a version for a machine WITH the third function. The two version don't need the same hardware, and there would be left over expensive parts. I just don't get it.

I have the same tractor/blower set-up. In two winters (average about 140" of snow per winter) of use, I have not had the need to be able to adjust the chute deflection on the fly. Pretty much the same setting all winter long. You could try operating wihout hydrolic chute deflection, might save some $'s

there are a lot of ways to do this, without the need for hydraulics, and keep it all under $500. you'll need a linear actuator for chute, either 6-8" stroke, and 100 RPM motor. Plug it into cigarette lighter, with two switches and done. Moving the chute and deflector are used all the time here.

That electric system has been in use on another machine in the family for nearly 10 years. However, the machine is stored indoors. I wouldn't store outside.

These two videos helped, but does not provide all the answers.

It looks like there is a "third function" created with a electrical connection run to the blower where I diverted exists on the blower to divert from chute ROTATION to chute DEFLECTION.

I could not see where the third function plugs into electrically, or if third function button on the joystick comes with the snowblower hydraulic kit.

I looked into the BX 3rd function kit, and learned that the one that you can purchase for the Kubota 80 series tractors is actually a 3rd function diverter valve. If you want a true 3rd function kit, then you can purchase the Land Pride 3rd function kit, that is also specifically designed for the Kubota 80 series tractors, and is a true 3rd function kit. The difference is in the cost.. The Kubota kit BX2412 cost $680.00 (03/33/2021 price), and the Land Pride 380-289A cost $837.44. For the $157 difference in cost, I would rather have the true 3rd function kit. I haven't seen the instructions for installing the BX2412, so I can't comment on its ease of installation, however, I have seen the Land Pride installation instructions, and it appears to be straight forward and easy to install.

This is GREAT information. The Land Pride part number for the TRUE third function is 380-354A. I called them and they are great. Parts gave me the number and a link to the manuals.

I can't say for sure, but I think that Land Pride even has some mistakes in the kit numbers in the installation instructions. When ordering any kit, make sure that it is correct for your application, and verify that information with the manufacturer if in doubt.

I just watched this video, and it is grossly incomplete if you were using this as a guide to the Land Pride factory instructions. The person narrating claims to have done a few of these, but he seems very unsure of what goes where, and skips over some of the most important parts of the installation. At least you will get a feel for where the main components reside on the tractor.

I am coming to the conclusion that the tractor based third function is not used on BX2822A. Based on the video I referenced above, there is a diverter on the snowblower itself, diverting rotation of the shoot hydraulics to deflection of the shoot. That part is clearly visible in the video from Messick's. I imagine the snowblower deflector kit includes some type of electrical connection up to the joystick.

That is pretty simple, you have the snowblower hydraulics hooked up to the white and yellow, and the added 2818a hydraulic to the red and blue. Then it all works thru the joystick like having a front loader on.
