BX25D. Mod #1 and continued.

In reality this machine will most likely never see night time. Why would I need to be out in the dark in it? Why did I add the lights? I just love a challenge I guess

The kit makes perfect sense now and from what I see it's a very nice, clean way to install lights. Tractors with headlights only are almost useless after dark. I never figured I would use mine after dark like I do but I bet 50% of the hrs on my M9000 are after dark. When I worked at the quarry the only time I had to get my farm chores done was after I got home and most of the time it was dark when I started.

Anyway, I can appreciate what you've done to both tractors. Some may call it overkill, I say prepaired for anything. My only problem is when my son walked by and said what's that. I backed up to the start of the post and took him thru it step by step. The next thing I hear is "cool, buy me one". Thanks ol buddy.

Well mine has and will see the night often. and I was kinda hoping you were gonna add more lights on yours I have noticed that thanks only to doing things over and over do I feel comfortable finding things in the dark. You know like leavers and switches and such. I have often said (you know the talking to myself kind of thing) that there should be some low leavel amount of lighting pointed down from somewhere like the ROPS. Not to give you any ideas or extra work or anything like that hint hint wink wink.

Need less lights on a tractor said no tractor operator ever

I guess over the life of this tractor I don't really know what situation I might find myself into for example helping a friend out and that might lead into some night work so the added lighting would be very welcomed.
Last night I did a video on the lighting and all I'm going to say is WOW!
When I did the ROPS lighting I wanted so bad to build the lighting right into the ROPS tube. It would have looked so nice but we all know we can touch the tube

Thank you my friend. I'm happy you enjoyed seeing my work. As for lighting. When I operated heavy equipment and I'm talking pretty big equipment I spent thousands of hours in poorly lit machinery and I had many hours to stare out though the glass and think of ways to improve on what I was seeing. I guess that's where some of my ideas come from.

Well I never left the shop until 11 PM last night. Editing the video and started the upload. Its 12:35 here now so the video has been uploading for over 11 hours and its up to 84% so it takes time but its a HD vid so what can I say.

Got out to the shop early this morning. Removed the hoe and installed the 3pt hitch and then the Chipper. Had to cut 3" off the PTO shaft and the outer case then I tried it. Holy cow this thing works FABTASTIC!
Just in case you haven't guessed I have to do a mod on the chipper. Hey it's not my fault :confused3:
It really don't drop low enough on the 3pt hitch so I'll fabricate an extension for it :thumbsup:

Do you want more detailed photo's of the underside of the little tractor?
Fursure that would be ok, and maybe I can come up with an other idea for the skid plate, road signs are starting to get a little scarce around here

One thing though next time you do a lighting video please put a disclaimer about staring directly in to the sun ,,,
Gawd them is bright,
I can see where the aluminum cans I pick up, money is gona go now,,,

On a more serious note what is the out put on the light bar, and the draw,, and the 4 LED fender mounts and the ditch lights,,, I don't want to over tax my little girl to much though I'm sure its a lot less than the 2, 55 watt driving lamps I had on the ROPS

Ok now I'm drooling. I love the way the lighting works. You said the fender lights are adjustable, are they adjustable without tools and on the fly? Also do they have seprate switches one for each side? Are you able to leave the tactical lights on steady white? Everything you did to your BX was "Top shelf" very impressive.

I gota tell ya I did hear one disturbing thing on the video. You said you loved the seat I really was hoping you were gonna add that air ride seat to your new love

I have a little suggestion for you. On the guards you made for the Amber Rear Lights. Take sum Silver D O T refector tape and line the inside. When they flash it will light thing up great. Work for me.

Well I snapped a few photo's for you. might help a little. It's flat out here. I started work at 4 am and sitting here having my lunch at the computer
Don't know the output of all the lights. I just haven't gotten around to doing that yet along with checking the hydraulic pressures but I'm getting close to doing it. Thank you for posting

Well I love the seat for now but that can change at a moments notice Yes the tactical light can be on steady much like a light bar. I have the same light on my zero turn. The Kubota fender lights can be turned on or off with their individual switch but the main headlights has to be on to power them up. They can be adjust without tools but tools would be better for the light.

Well the chipper is on and the mods have started. As you can see I added to the lower portion of the unit. I didn't think it was lowering enough with the 3pt hitch so the extension will do it. I shortened the PTO shaft 3". Oh and I fabricated four mounts to hold a set of casters my buddy gave me so when the unit comes off I'll push the casters in place and be able to move the chipper around easily. I'll also be adding a tool box to the chipper as well.

On a sour note. My hatred for powder coating continues. The paint is falling off the unit so today the dealer is going to have to do something about it. I only took it off the pallet yesterday. The unit is working great but no prep work was done before it was powder coated

I had the same situation with my front mount snowblower (B2782A). No prep work at all before powder coated. The dealer won't do anything. And...It is made in Canada.

Its friggen awful when manufactures take short cuts. Sorry to hear about your issue. My dealer is great and have gone to bat for me so ill see what happens next.

Seeing stuff like this makes me want to scream. It really gives the powder coating industry a bad rap.

I work at a small to mid-size powder coating outfit in southern BC and not a week goes by that a customer comes in and doesn't want to pay our prices to do proper prep work.
Luckily our outfit does most of our coating for other departments within our company so if we can't convince them we send them on down the road.

Steel for any outdoor application should always be sandblasted, zinc epoxy primed and then colour coated.

Well these two mods will be the last I'll be posting on the BX25D. In the last two weeks I've come up with a lot of different mods that I think are unique to this type of tractor and practical. If your not tired of seeing this stuff then you should be because I am at this point lol.

Anyway we all know how important it is to have a tool box on a tractor. Well it's the same for a chipper I guess so ours now has it's own tool box. The brackets are all aluminum and I used the existing holes that I had for the chipper extension. I also lined the box with some foam to help save the bottom of the box when throwing items in it and yes. I did drill a few small holes in the box to let any water out that may find it's way in.

I also had a pair of branch cutters that I wanted to have on hand so I made a holder for them out of some scrap aluminum I had then tig welded everything together. I put the tool box and cutter holder on the feeder side of the machine because I didn't want to have to walk over to the other side each time I needed them. Yes, I'm getting lazy lol.

To keep the boredom going I attached a few extra photo's for you viewing pleasure.

I almost bought a set of cutters just like those but got the telescoping handle type instead. Wildfire, your chipper is sweet. I can't wait to hear a report about how it performs. The BX-treme is a awsome little beast. Keep us posted on how it does for you and I for one have really enjoyed all the mods.
